Question about GE WCVH6260FWW

1 Answer

My machine is a little more than 4 years old, the clothes just aren't getting clean. I first noticed this about 3 months ago. I have tried to fix it on my end, but I really think this is a problem with the machine. There are no error codes and the pump filter is clean.

Everyone's level of what is dirty is different so I'll give a couple guesses here. Are these loads extra dirty and needing warm washing to help clean or even possibly a pre-soak to help the break down started? If so is the water actually warm? Check after it fills to see if it is mixing hot/cold water together, could be only filling with cold and reducing effective cleaning power. And even though there are sensors in some models to tell temperature of water, that doesn't mean its working :) Also some households 'cold' water is colder than average...what is your cold water temp? My prior Kenmore had an option to check temp and would add some warm with the cold to even it out.

Also, overfilling will reduce the ability to clean, maybe just have slowly over time increased amount going in (darn kids growing!)

Another possibility is grease/oil from the bearing has gotten into the casket and is polluting your water or perhaps residue from some other grimy wash that is persisting, but that doesn't sound likely since you didn't indicate that items are getting soiled, Unless you are noticing spots that weren't there when the clothes went in.

Which if you are noticing new spots...there could mold/grim in the coin trap just before the pump (it's full of water so have a towel handy if you decide to go poking in there) might need to be removed cleaned and reinstalled.

Testimonial: "Thanks, actually we have just started noticing what looks like oil showing up on the occasional shirt. What can we do?"

Your model looks like it has a pump filter in the front, make sure that area is clean. And possibly run a few loads empy with a cup of baking soda to help remove any oil in there. Hopefully it was just something grimy that is left over. But if the it is the bearings failing in the rear tub half likely needs replacing (bearings are set into it, I believe) In which case that can get a bit spendy...Sears lists it as $440 just for the part :( I'd do the baking soda clean and hope for the best. If it's sounding louder than usual, start saving for repairs.

I am looking to buy a used Frigidaire GLWS1233AS2 Top Load Washer and GLER331AS2 . They are supposed to be 3 years old. Are they good machines or do they have lots of problems?

Mine is 10 yrs old and I am just now having a problem. Clothes are too damp after last spin cycle. Hopefully, I'll get an answer here soon. Another problem I noticed a few months after I got it, with this model, is the fabric softener dispenser on top of the agitator. You have to remove it every single time and clean it. I added a little water to it before adding fabric softener and thought that would help to stretch the cleaning to maybe once or twice a week. Don't do it! I started to smell mildew and found out why. The agitator shaft that this dispenser sits on was caked with old fabric softener. I just use the blue Downey ball now. The fabric dispenser stinks but I have had 10 yrs of good washing.

Power head and wand has no power. Unit is less than 4 month old.

Hi, I had the same problem with mine and found that if you plug the power head directly into the handpiece (bypassing the telescopic wand) and it worked only proved the problem is in the telescopic wand. The problem as I found was a broken terminal in the end that connects to the powerhead (female socket). As it is a non repairable part means replacement at $100AUS I have had my machine for 3 years and in this time have replaced the both powerhead once and the wand twice within 2 years of owning the machine. The wand has now gone faulty again 4 months after replacing it and consequently Electrolux only warranty spares for 3 months which I think is poor! Its a great machine but a little too delicate even if it is only used for domestic operations once a fortnight! I paid $700 for my Oxy3 3 years ago and wont be buying another Electrolux product due to poor service (customer and product):((

Kenmore top loading washing machine does not clean clothes well.

I would seriously consider getting a newer machine. A brown stain could be rust, or an oil leak. Either way it probably is not worth putting any money into. If this helps, please rate my answer. Thank you.

Dirty steaks on clothes at end of wash cycle.

Make up a couple of liters of a strong solution of hot water and Soda Crystals, pour that mix into the machine without any laundry in it and do couple of very hot washes

Change your soap powder to one of the old fashioned ones for a month or so and see how you get on.

Cold washing tends to leave body fats and other greases inside the machinea s there is little to break them down in "Modern" powders
