Question about Cell Phones

Open Question

Someone hacked the password on my Virgin mobile account and Virgin refuses to help. They told me to go to the local Virgin store inside a Target and show two forms of ID and have the Target Virgin mobile rep call Virgin customer service to reset my password. When i got there, Virgin refused to help and told me I had to get the new password from the person that hacked my account! Some idiot in Mumbai tells my the only way someone can change my password was if I gave them my original password. Apparently there are no thieves or hackers in India! I have an outstanding balance of 163.00 which they refuse to send to me or reset my password so I can get into my account. Needless to say I'm out $163.00 and I'm switching carriers. I refuse to do business with any service company that uses Indian call centers. They're are idiots!

I bought a used business laptop for use with my school work but it is password protected with no reset disk

Hello, Dominique -

Contact the seller to find out if he / she can provide the password or will pay for a reliable local (local for you) computer repair business to hack it and remove the password protection for you.

If the seller will not, ask to return the laptop for a refund.

I have purchased pre-owned laptops, but only from a local computer store where, if the laptop had password protection, a technician at the store made sure it was removed before sale.

Note: If the seller refuses to provide the password, refuses to pay for computer repair service, or refuses to take it back and refund your purchase price, the laptop _may_ have been stolen. In that case, contact your local police department and talk with a police officer.

Best wishes.

Why am I being TOLD to change my pasword?

Actually Eva, You said it, That's why you should change your password. Its not that you're someone important or someone with money. Its because in 20 years you have a a huge contact list and have a good reputation on email.

So imagine if your account got hacked, if something came from you with a virus or a piece of bad code, no one would suspect it was a bad email. SO the older the account the bigger the target for spammers and hackers. its not always about important people, its about volume. the more people they catch the more they are valued.

So in Summary, change your password peridically. I know is inconvenient, but its a lot easier than having to make a whole new account and getting all your friends to use it. in 20 years of having the same account, it will be hard for them to use a new address. Take care.

My Google account has been hacked . When I called a number that came up on my phone I was told that my account was hacked by someone in Mexico and that the hackers have been using my account to sell drugs...

You are most likely being scammed. First thing to do is change your Google account password. Make sure it is a strong password that is hard to guess. If there is any further contact from the scammers (not likely), contact authorities and report it.

Try changing your password first. Do not do business with an unknown scammer. If necessary go to Best Buy or Costco and see if their techs can help.

Someone has hacked my gmail. Help?

This sounds like a scam to me - If I was you, i'd log into my gmail account and change my password. Beware of people trying to get you to tell them your password either by phone, SMS or email because 'apparently' your account has been hacked.

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay.
