Hi sounds like bad caps in your radio.. also if your running a power mike, check the battery.

i suggest you post your problem on the radiomods forum, where there are loads of radio technicians browsing the forums.

Why does the tx light flash on my ftdx5000?

There are several things that can cause this.

1. Powered on with the mike keyed

2. Accessories plugged in the back

3. Power interrupted

To fix this leave the power on, UNPLUG the unit and wait for it to power drain. Turn the unit off plug it back in. If that does not take care of it, take the microphone off and any accessories and try again.

Tone Sound when Keying mike

You probably are referring to a "roger beep" which can be enabled to make ordinary transmissions annoying to anyone on the receiving end. Usually it is possible to disable this "feature".

Baofeng Uv-5r beeps on tx

Hi Nick,

Your two way is giving you a roger beep, when you release the PTT, is that correct?

If so, your manual if you have one, and if you can decipher CHINGLISH, will tell you how to stop the ROGER BEEP.

Because these nasty little units are mass produced in China, their English translation of the user manual is harder to work with than the nasty little radios they are printed for.

Unless you have a mate who can translate Chinese to PROPER english for you, then you are in the same boat as the many other silly sausages that bought these crappy things.

They are cheap & nasty radios, like anything else made in China, that's not to say the Chinese people a bad, just the companies that produce this rubbish in great quantities for gullable folks to buy & cry.

Sorry, but I too got sucked in buying Chinese radios, Never again.

I hope you find someone to translate that Chinglish manual for you.

Sincere Best wishes,

I removed my Roger Beep from my Eagle Sidewinder 400, It still receives but will not transmit. What do I have to connect back up for it to start transmitting again? I'd be Thanking you for any help.....

If the radio is not going into TX, then you have not connected the TX line back up,

If there is no audio when you TX you have left the audio wire off.

The radio usually needs 4 wires.
TX (Puts radio into TX)
Audio (this carries the audio from the mic into the modulator)
Screen (ground cable (earth))
RX (not as common these days)

Does the roger beep come with instructions? It can vary between beep boards.

Typically it gets installed inline with the mic jack.

There is a wire or pin on the board where the tx wire, and the rx wires go.These wires get disconnected from the mic jack, then a wire goes to the tx pin. Then there is an audio wire that gets connected to the audio wire of the mic jack. Then the black wire to ground, and the red wire to switched 12v right off the power switch.

Here is a schematic of the board connected to the mic jack so you know what pin is what.

Again, I would need to know what roger beep board you would like to install.

Keying the mike

Hello Adam, first off, do not unhook the antenna then key the mic; you run the risk of blowing the final transistor out of the radio, then it will not TX.
The digital TX lights can be adjusted high or low by a cb tech. All they are is a general reference as to how much power is being dead keyed; usually around 4 watts.
For the best performance, the antenna needs to have the SWR set with a meter so all your signals are getting in and out. A mismatched antenna system can lose you about half of your power and range; and that's hard on the radio also.
If your radio was tuned up by a shop tech, you would see the digital go part way up, but when you talked into the mic, the digital would go almost all the way up. I hope this clarified the situation for you,,, Let me know,,, Mechanic
