Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Sound works fine when you first turn tv on, but will suddenly go completely mute after a variable amount of time - as little as a few minutes and as long as a few hours. Seems to depend on how long the tv was turned off - the longer it was off, the longer the sound will work. Already tried resetting sound and tv settings to return to factory. Also tried unplugging the tv overnight to drain the power, but neither seemed to actually "reset" the tv completely.

Sound issue also happens when using XBOX 360 connected with HDMI.

Already tried playing with all sound settings and leaving tv unplugged overnight.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the audio with a DVD player or cable box. Also try using component cables if using a RCA component cable or vice versa. Check that all of the cables are plugged into the back of the TV & MUTE button is not pressed. Do a hard reset by unplugging the power cord for more than 4 hours and power it again, then go into the on-screen-menu and make sure the sap is off and stereo in on. Also try audio from Phone and 3.5mm jacks (if equipped). If this all didn't resolves the issue then it is an Audio IC or bad speakers/speaker connection. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Chris, then the issue seems to be with the A/V board inside the unit and it might needs to be replaced to resolve this issue. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment with the manufacturers name and model no# further assistance.

    Thanks
    Rylee

check all wires are firmly in place, especially the scart lead, and just give them a little push to make sure, if that doesnt work, try unplugging your tv from the mains and wait 5 mins, plug it back in, wait another 5 mins, and turn on, if that doesnt work, contact the company's customer service line.

You should take the TV back to Bestbuy when you get the chance... Tv could of came defective from the factory. They should be able to exchange for a new one if you explain the problem to them.

TV has sound but no picture...

This is a pitcure tube problem, either you buy another picture tube and change it on your TV or if this is under warranty better to send it back to the manufacturer and have this one repair.

Warning label on screen

It sounds like a 'mute' icon. Check for a corresponding button on your remote control.

Just to clarify - You say the TV sound is fine but you do not use the built-in speakers...

Can you actually get any sound out of the TV speakers? If you can't it is because the TV is on mute (For your type of setup you will need to turn it off mute and then just turn the volume all the way down.)

If you can get sound out of the built-in speakers and the icon is still showing, it is almost certainly going to be a fault with the TV. You could try unplugging it, leaving it for a minute or two and then plugging it back it. This may well reset it.

Hope this helps!
