SOURCE: char broil patio caddie, how many coals should it contain?

Your referring to the 'LAVA ROCK' which lines the botton grate. There should be enough to cover the grate 1 layer deep only.

LP grills are designed to use lava rock ONLY. Charcoal will clog the burners.

Need to purchase replacement regulator/valve (one piece) for patio caddie grill??

If what you're looking for is the Regulator/Tank Hose Assembly, you can purchase that for any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills. They are pretty much a universal fii, but be sure to take your old one with you for comparison purposes of the hose length. A little longer is ok, but shorter is not.

If that's not what you're looking for, you can purchase replacement parts directly form Char-Broil.

Does the patio caddie use any kind of charcoal or lava rock

Your model Char-Broil LP Gas Grill use Lava Briquets on the lower grate above the burner(s). Any generic type will work. Just space them in evenly on the grate in one layer. You'll probably have some left over. So store them in an airtight container for future use (replacement).

No gas flow

Ensure that your hose, regulator, and control assembly are all clear of debris and that the orifice is not plugged.
