Are you going to replace Magnavox H2160MW9 160GB HDD & DVD Recorder with Digital Tuner soon--or ever?

    I'm looking to buy a BRAND NEW unit. But I do not think Magnavox is making this, or an improved model. I think having only REFURBISHED on the market makes me to believe that there's something wrong with them.

Never owned this model but i owned another DVR which i replaced when the switch to digital occurred - no analogue channels to pick up and record - no use for the device - donated it and bought a new one, with a digital tuner.

    So many are refurbished because they are difficult to configure so many people just give up and return them.



    If you buy a new one just select the one you like and avoid those manufactured in China or Malaysia.

I can't get channels 24,30,50,63 & 80 to tune into player & yet I can get them on TV which is thru cable connected to DVD player. Therefore cannot record them

Magnavox MDR537H/F7 no power
Some surge protectors cut off all power, when they reach the surge protection limit in joules. Power strips have reset buttons to restore power. Try plugging it directly into the electrical wall socket. If it works, then purchase a new surge protector. The DVD recorder may have a internal fuse that has burned open.

My dvd recorder will not record and/or it burns the disc when I do not want it to. It is showing an E4 error message and this error code is not in the manual so I can not figure out what is wrong
E4 is a fault code not an error message. It means there's something wrong with the device. You need to take it to be serviced.

If the digital tuner can pick up the HD channels, then I don't see why it can't record them. However some TV channels have blocking on them to prevent recording. If it can't record a channel it will say so with a message, generally.

No,it is not necessary to return it..
As far as I explore it ,this feature is user adjustable ..Have you gone thru "user manual " ?
if you need a soft User Manual in PdF format I have a copy of " "..H2160MW9 HDD & DVD PLAYER / RECORDER WITH DIGITAL TUNER " *another version of yours..

I purchased a MDR513h/f7 hdd & dvd Player/recorder for my cable TV. I can not watch one channel while recording another. Comast said I must have a dual turner and that is what I purchased (I think)....
This model has only one tuner, I'm afraid. You can only watch one channel at a time, unless you split the cable signal going into it. One side goes to the recorder, the other to the TV. Then you use the single tuner in the recorder to record and the TV's tuner to watch the other channel.
