Question about D-Link DGL-4100 Router (DGL4100)

Open Question

I have a DGL-4100 Router and a switch and there is one site I am having repeated problems using and the program they offer. MMObugs.com is the site and sometimes I can turn on the program and it logs me in fine so I can use it, other times it keeps telling me that a firewall or networking issue is blocking it. I even have this problem when trying to access there web page, just will not load it even though I can go anywhere else on the net I want at that time. I asked the site if they are having problems and they said not all at and no one else in the forums are reporting a log in problem but me so I am stumped. This program has to authenticate you to make sure you have a valid copy when you load it and sometimes it will load and other times it will not. I tried various things with the Dlink but I can not get it to make this odd problem go away. I mean I should at least be able to reach their website even if the program will not load and they say they are always up. So something is blocking somewhere and I can not find it. Even called the ISP Comcast and they said nothing on their end can cause one website not to load. So help would be appreciated

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Unable to access DLink WBR 2310 Configuration page

Reset the router first, press the reset pinhole on the back for 10 seconds using a paper clip, don't press it too much or it will mess up the settings of the router. then try to access again the configuration page.

SOURCE: wireless dlink dir-655 router not working. I

just off the firewall or proxy server or anti virus for configuration time and just connect the cable to the LAN port of the router and other end to the PC then try to open the configuration page of the router go to the explorer or Mozilla there you have to type default ip in the addresss bar 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 try both which is the open then go it after that in cd user manual is there just go through it.

Turn the cable-modem off.
Turn the router off.
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the network-port on the cable-modem to the 'WAN' or 'Internet' port on the router.
Use another Ethernet cable to connect the network-port on your computer to one of the 4 'LAN' ports on the router.
Turn the cable-modem on.
Wait for its lights to settle-down to a repeatable pattern.

Route multiple static WAN IP's to LAN IP's

the router has to be set up as a "pass through" device if your ISP has given you a static address pack.

If you don't see any devices connected in the DHCP client list on the router interface even when you are sure of the devices being connected, only a firmware update or a re-flashing of firmware can help. You can find the latest firmware available on the d-link support site. You can verify the model and version numbers and download the corresponding firmware. This is only fix.

I have a DGL-4100 behind a Linksys DSL router 2 networks don't.

zSB(3,3) Installing a Two Router Network Installing a router to work as the second one on a home network requires special configuration. Do the following on the second router to ensure it (and the devices attached) function properly:
    1. Connect as local device or bridge - If connecting the second router via Ethernet cable, plug it into one of the LAN ports on the first router. If connecting the second router wirelessly, ensure the second router is set for client mode. Note that some home wireless routers do not support client mode; these must be connected by cable. Check your router documentation for details on its client mode configuration support.

    2. Check / change IP address - Most home network routers use a default IP address setting. Often, these default IP addresses will not work in a two router environment. Check the second router's IP address value and reset it if necessary to work within the valid address range of the first router (and to not conflict with any other device on the network).

    3. Disable DHCP - To avoid IP address conflicts between all of the devices on the home network, only one of your two routers should assign addresses via DHCP. All mainstream routers provide an option to disable DHCP as part of the router's configuration screens.

Instead of adding a second wired router to an existing network, consider adding a network switch instead. A switch accomplishes the same goal of extending the size of a network, but it does not require any IP address or DHCP configuration, greatly simplifying configuration.

How do i hook cables to download new firmware into my dgl-4500 from computer to router

  1. I assume you downloaded the newest firmware (version 1.21NA) from this site.
  2. Save or move it on your desktop so it's easier to find.
  3. Connect your router to your computer with an Ethernet cable.(If you're not sure what it looks like, see here.)
Do not upgrade the firmware over a wireless connection!

On the same page, look at the FAQ's. there is an entry called "How do I upgrade the firmware on my DGL-4100/DGL-4300/DGL-4500?" It is a description of the upgrade process itself and will walk you through the steps.

I'm just amazed that they miss a really important warning. Do not unplug your router or close the browser on your computer until this process is finished. This can render your router useless and you will have a nice, expensive doorstop.
When the upgrade process starts, go have a coffee, do your dishes, whatever, but: Leave the router and your computer alone! Wait until the router's reboot is completely finished.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

D-link DGl-4100

I'm currently running the same setup(but no wireless). Things to ensure:

1. The DSL modem (not your router) must be set to bridged mode, not PPPoE. Your modem has a web interface that can be accessed via a direct ethernet connection between the pc and modem. After making this change, reconnect your modem to your router.

2. The router has to be configured to use PPPoE and the AT&T login username has to be the full email address. (Mine ends in bellsouth.net) Make sure that your password is entered correctly by checking the status page for an established connection.

Finally, power cycle your router and try to surf!
