Question about Dell OptiPlex 360 Desktop Computer

1 Answer

How do I get into my personal computer when it won't let me in? I have a Dell Vista desktop, and it says that I have a corrupt registry. I tried going back to an earlier saved time, but it won't let me do that, either. I'm trying to save my documents that are in the computer.

Try last known-good configuration which you can access through Windows Advanced Options menu by prsss F8 when starting the system. If this does not work and you cannot get to safe mode, system restore failed, your option then would be to repair Windows and reinstall it. If you can connect the hard disk to another system to save data, be sure to do that first.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 stuck in windows boot manager file \windows\system32\config\system status: 0xc000014c info: windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt ...

Here's part of an article on how to replace that registry file:

Look in the C:\windows\system32\config\regback\ folder.
There should be copies of the registry files stored inside that folder.
They are backed up periodically and stored in that folder.

If you create a MiniWin, BartPE, or a Linux Live CD, you can start the computer from CD and move the file system to the required folder, C:\windows\system32\config\.

I have dell studio with vista os and i have a problem while opening the control panel and other drivers and it shows that windows explorer stopped working and then it shows restrating but i never comes...

try downloading a different browser. IE8 is not a very good one. google crome or firefox are good. i had this problem and found it running better with google crome. but the real problem apparently is with a registry file within windows. the only way to repair this particular issue is to format HDD and reinstall, as a recovery does not re-write the corrupt file

Freezing frequently ?

The cause of the freezing, or locking up, of your computer, is due to some either corrupted or missing files. And more specifically, missing or corrupted registry files. These are the files which tell everything on your how it is suppose to work. Basically, they are configuration files. And if these files get corrupted, or messed up, it can wreck havoc.

Sometimes the registry files end up missing. This can happen when you uninstall software from your computer. The software being uninstalled may remove registry files also associated with another program. There should be a message asking you whether or not you want to delete the files as they are associated with another program. Your best bet is to say NO to this and leave the files. If the files end up missing, then the program which needs them will stall, hang, or freeze the next time it tries to run. But there is a simple way to fix this.

By just running registry scan software on your computer, you can find these problems and fix them right away. It will let you know which files are bad, and will fix them to its original state. And it is this simple step which will show you how to fix your computer freezing.

Hello! I have an Acer M7720 desktop computer, with 2 flatscreens running along. Since the day I bought it, the computer has problems with starting up. Brought it to repair during warranty but they didn't...

It sounds like you have a corrupt registry... :(

Vista handles their registry fixes a bit differently than xp.
However, I found a nice Microsoft article to help me out.

I'm pretty sure it is easier to repair the registry with Vista and 7, make sure to back it up!

Oh, one last note --- In my case with XP, it was a lot easier to manuver registry files if the Hard Drive is hooked up to another computer.

Computer wouldn'y start up

Your computer has lost refrence to the registry hive that is required to start the Windows load process. This can happen for differnet reasons. Could be hard drive failing or a software corruption. I would test your hard drive first. On a Dell if you push F12 during the boot process you will get a option on bootable device, select Diagnostic. And test the hard drive. If it's OK, then you can try a repair using this guide CLICK HERE. Or you can just reinstall Windows using your disks that came with the computer.
