1996 Triumph Tiger leaks fuel heavily when running

1. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system.
2. Loose float bowl screws.
3. Damaged float bowl o-ring.
4. improper fuel level in the float bowl.
5. Worn or dirty inlet valve or seat.

I have an almost new craftsman gold 6.75. It starts, but keeps wanting to stall after just a few seconds. Any ideas?


Hi coffeelovers...

Sounds like you have dirt/debris in your caburetor jets,fuel passages or a diaphgram that is becoming non-flexible.
Check/Clean/Replace your Air Filter, a dirty air filter can make your engine run to rich with fuel and stall out.
Note: ALWAYS USE COMPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN YOUR JETS AND PASSAGES, VERY IMPORTANT.
Note:Before you disassemble the carburetor:
Mark each piece with a awl, or some kind of instrument that will make an alignment scratch before you disassemble the carburetor into separate pieces.
That way you will know which way it goes back together when you reassemble it.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or by using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that, and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Be sure to check your fuel tank for water and dirt/debris, if there is water/debris then you need to clean your tank.
Check/Clean/Replace your fuel filter if you have one.
Make sure you are using fresh fuel.
When you clean your carburetor, I recommend that you use a laquer thinner type cleaner to clean and dissolve the laquer build-up in the float and needle jet passages.
Be sure to remove all plastic and rubber parts before using the laquer thinner because it can dissolve the plastic parts and render them unuseable.
Be sure to use COMPRESSED AIR to blow out all the fuel and air passages.The higher air pressure is needed to blow some of the trash/debris from the fuel or air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Keep in mind that the float (if you have one) for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their original position before you started.
Once you have your carburetor cleaned that should solve your problem.

I turned the mower on its side to dump gas out. put the gas back in it then started the mower and now it will only idle and the blade will not turn fast. What can i do?


Maybe you turned it too far and the oil went into the carburetor and air filter. Check the air filter, change if oily. If still having difficulty you are going to have to drain the carburetor, if separate from tank (remember to clamp off fuel line). If carburetor on the tank, or is still only running at idle, may have to clean the carb. If on tank, check fuel in tank for oil.

Did it smoke while it way runnning?

Sitting for while pulled carbys apart washed cleaned reset mix screws 2 half turns, up size exhaust with reverse condes on now, back firing on deconpression.


sounds like your running lean. start with your main jet/needle adj. make sure the bike is pulling hard the WHOLE way to red. after you have that you can work the pilot jet and air fuel screw. Now do you have your air fuel screws 2 half turns out from dead bottom make it one full turn, or 2 full turns and one half from dead bottom. if you have not installed a jet kit there is where you need to start. and please dont forget to sync your carbs when your done.
If you can give me the jet sizes, needle settings and air/fuel screw setting. and we will get this worked out

Engine starts cutting back and then cuts off only when mower is engaged. Changed oil-oil filter- fuel filter- air filter- new fuel pump.????? This is a riding lawnmower Model- Z4818BIA

If the mower/weedeater/edger is over a couple of years old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit,because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
Sounds like you will need to clean the carburetor or replace your carburetor internal rubber parts like the diaphgram and O rings.
Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Keep in mind that the float for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instrucitons you get with the carburetor kit.

I need to know the correct settings for the "H", the"L", and the "T" on my echo 330T chainsaw . I've got them all out of whack so I have to start it all over from scratch. I...


Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Back the jet screws out only 1-1/2 turns each. Remove the carburetor cover and adjust T CW so that it contacts the throttle arm stop, then turn about 2 turns more. It may idle too fast, but don't worry about that for now. Once the two jet screws are preset, start the engine and let it warm up. Pull the throttle full on and adjust H jet CW until the engine starts to speed up. Correct final adjustment is for the engine to 4-stroke lightly unloaded, but immediately 2-stroke when cutting. Release the throttle (if the engine dies immediately, turn T CW until the engine will continue to run) and adjust L CW until the engine idles fairly well, but still allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. If you go too far, the engine will 'gasp' when accelerated. T is set so that the engine continues to run, but the chain should not be trying to turn. Hope this helps!

FUEL MIXTURE SCREWS BEEN ADJUSTED IMPROPERLY. WHAT IS PROPER HIGH -LOW CARB SETTINGS FOR 40CC POULAN CHAIN SAW


Make sure the air cleaner is not plugged. Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back each out 1-1/2 turns CCW. This is a basic setting and should allow the engine to start and run. When the engine is warmed up, pull the throttle full on and adjust H jet needle CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-stroking. Correct adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes running free, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and allow to idle. Turn the L jet needle CW until the engine idles fairly well, but the engine should 'follow the throttle'. It will tend to 'gasp' when pulling the throttle if you have gone too far. Idle speed screw should be set so that the chain doesn't try to turn, but the engine continues to idle. Hope this helps!

Won't start, need to know gap setting for spark plug


Set your plug gap to .26-28.

Edger won't run. replaced fuel, air filter and spark plug. I thing fuel line is clogged. It starts fine but won't stay running.
