Question about IBM Wheelwriter 30 Typewriter

1 Answer

I have been messing around with our IBM WheelWriter 30 Series II (6787) all day and I can't resolve the issue, being: Code 215. I read thru the listings and followed the advise given in regards to the printwheel, I removed it....blew off the dust ( wasn't much in there, but blew it off anyway) reseated it and that did not resolve the problem. So.....I thought perhaps that the printwheel itself was bad...so I swapped out another from an identical machine that we have to see if that was it...it wasn't...still has code 215 ( the other machine is operational).....so.....whats next??? I am hoping there is a "next" ! : ) thank you. A. Ramsey

You have done all the easy stuff so probably the LED that shines thru the P/W is bad. You most likely need a tech.

    Hey there,

have the manual in front of me. Trying to sell this machine for my mother.

The manual says (error code 215):

    1. Check if type wheel is correctly installed
    2. Press 'code'

    3. Error still exists? Turn off
    4. Check type wheel
    5. Turn on

    Greetings

Press down firmly on both ends of the platen (black rubber roll) it should snap into place, if it comes back out one of the latches is broken and will need replaced.

IBM Wheelwriter 30 Series II is showing an error code of 215 with a box with a slash through it and am unable to type on it

215 is a Print Wheel error. Remove the print wheel, look for debris in the P/W area, if you have a compressed air source blow the P/W area out. If these don't work the P/W sensor is probably bad.

I have an IMB Wheelwriter 30 Series II. When I turned on the machine this morning it made a couple of ringing sounds and then on the display it reads a square with the number 215. Nothing else works on...

215 is a printwheel error. Remove the P/W, look for dirt or debris in that area, if you have a compressed air source blow out the P/W area. If these fail the P/W led sensor is probably bad.
and you most likely need a tech.

My IBM Wheelwriter 30 Series II has a message of a box and an X in it and then the numbers 215 can someone tell me how can fix this?

Check to be sure the printwheel to be sure it is properly installed, check for debris in the P/W area, If these are OK then the sensor is probably bad.

I believe a 215 code is a bad printwheel sensor. You need a tech.

The book says turn the T/W off wait 30 seconds and restart, if condition returns call for service. However you might try removing the batteries and unplugging the machine waiting a few minutes and restarting. CAUTION ALL THE MEMORY WILL BE LOST!
