Question about Belkin F5D8051 Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

My Belkin f5d8051 won't work in non administrative Windows Users. I've tried using the Windows Connection manager, but it still doesn't work. The computer boots into a non administrator user to run a program. If I log out of that user and log into the administrator the adapter begins working. I need it to apply the configuration to all users. Any ideas? Thanks, Adam

On the icon for this item right click and select Properties->Compatibility. Here you would 'Use as Admin' ticked. Please remove the tick and you would have this program running for non admin users as well.

Reset admin password

Right click My Computer > Manage > Local Users and Group > Users. Right click Administrator > Set Password. You must be an Administrator to do this. This can be done in User Accounts within Control Panel (Win 7). Same principle, just looks different.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lost Windows password:
  1. Log in as Administrator (try safe mode if you don't see Administrator).
  2. Login as other user (if other user is availible) and manage users. Must be an administrator. Steps noted above!
  3. Reformat computer.
  4. Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html

My Belkin F5D8236-4 v3 Router won't turn on. We had a storm last night and the power went out but the router won't turn on. I have tried to plug it into different outlets to see if that would work...

Try resetting the router. There should be a little hole somewhere on it with a button inside that you can press with a paperclip. Try holding that button down while you unplug then plug the router in while holding it (if possible). If that doesn't work, I'd suspect the storm might've damaged the router somehow. Was it plugged into a surge protector, and/or have you noticed any other issues with anything else that was turned on at the time?

Hi I have another computer a windows xp and I forgot my password what can I do without paying money to recover it do I need to make a system repair disk on this computer

The first thing you can do is try accessing the Administrator account. To make this easier, boot into Safe Mode, and login as Administrator. Turn on the computer, and keep tapping F8 as soon the the bios/post/splash screen is passed, you have to do this quickly. If you do this correctly, you'll see the Windows Advanced Boot Menu, hightlight the Safe Mode using your keyboard's up/down arrow keys and press enter to select and start booting. Wait until you see the the Windows xp welcome screen, select "Administrator" and proceed, if you see any warning message, click "Ok" or "yes", once you are logged in, right-click "My Computer", select "Manage". The Computer Management window will open up, now locate "Local Users and Groups", click the "+" sign beside it and again click "Users", look at the right-pane, you'll see your username (the username you've forgotten your password), right-click your username, and click "Set Password" or if "Reset Password" is available, click it. Set a new password and there you go, you now have reset your windows xp password. Please note that if you have any "encrypted" files or folders, you may be having problem opening them, but if you don't know what is encrypted in Windows, I guess you didn't do that.

Once everything is done, restart your computer and login to your account.

If in case your Administrator account has a password, you won't be able to do this, in many instances, the Administrator password is "admin" (without quotes), so you can try with it, otherwise you'll need a tool like Ophrack or Nt Password reset tool to get this done.

Let me know if you need further help..

Good Luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

OK; after giving up on lousy tech support I got it working after doing the following (not sure if all required, but this is what I did)
1. Gave admin rights to C:\Program Files (x86)\PFU
2. Updated to latest ScanSnap Manager V5.0 L21
3, Copied C:\Users\<admin acct>\AppData\Roaming\PFU directory to C:\Users\All Users

Good luck...

try setting the power management options in the BIOS(hardware based, access it by pressinfg DEL or F2 or F1 when booting,)

instead of using the windows feature.

settings once made as an admin in windows should be available for all users, else just leave the name for the user but upgrade the user status from power user or guest status to admin, enter changes, reboot, logon with old name, downgrade account from admin to user or whatsoever, that might do the trick...
good luck
