If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Why is my Frigidaire dryer model #FER86600ES0 getting extremely hot on the top and back?

Good afternoon friend, thanks for the post!

I see from your post that your Frigidaire dryer is getting extremely hot on the top and back. Have you checked to make sure that it is getting proper ventilation? I would verify nothing is blocking your dryer from ventilating which could be causing the appliance to heat up. If it continues to heat up I would reach out to a technician to come diagnose and repair your dryer. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

My speed queen dryer (model 170) is over heating. Clothes are extremely hot to the touch and wrinkled.

check the dryer vent to make sure nothing is blocking it, Hot clothes and wetness is usually caused by venting problems,, if the moisture and air can't leave,, you end up with your problem

My electric dryer is becoming extremely hot during the drying cycle. I replaced a blown thermal fuse several weeks ago and the dryer was extremely hot at that time. The dryer runs but becomes so hot you...

Clothes will get very hot in the dry cycle, especially when the dryer is set to the warmest or hottest setting.
There are controls built into the unit to prevent it from overheating to the point of causing a fire. The thermal fuse you replaced is one of them (and I assume you replaced a perfectly good fuse with a new one as you said it was very hot.).
You might want to check the following if you feel the unit is getting too hot -

1) Make sure the lint screen is clean.
2) Make sure the hose between the back of the dryer and the exhaust duct at the wall wall is not kinked or full of lint.
3) Make sure the exhaust duct leading to outside of the house is clear and not full of lint.

Let me know what you find.

Back of dryer gets extremly hot!!!

put hand at the outlet to see if the warm air is freely coming out. if not there could be a blockage in a pipe inside or the propler fan on the motor has failed.

Overheating and Won't Start

Does your dryer run at all? If the drum turns, but the dryer does not heat, click on the follwing link for advice:

Now, if your dryer does not run at all, you can use this link for more thorough information:

I'm sure you've already made sure the dryer vents are clean, but if your dryer is running extremely hot like you mentioned, it usually means there is insufficient air flow. If you have ensured all the external duct work is clear, you may still have a clog INSIDE the dryer. In addition, if you are in the habit of pushing the dryer all the way up against the wall, you may be crushing the dryer vent hose to the point where it cannot push air. I mention most of this in these write ups. Please take the time to read through the information. If you have any questions, need help in diagnosing the problem, or assistance in locating parts, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Whirlpool Dryer extremely hot

If your dryer heating element does not cycle, you may have a bad high limit thermostat. The thermostat is used to regulate the internal temperature of the dryer and should cycle the heater on and off. The thermal cut-out is supposed to prevent the dryer from overheating and will blow like a fuse. It is a non-resettable device and must be replaced. It is strongly recommended that you replace both these components at the same time if you have found one of them to be bad. Both of these components will be mounted on the heater box housing. Usually the thermostat is the component closest to the ceramic terminals of the heating element. Most manufacturers sell these two components as a set. The dryer temperature at the exhaust on the back of the dryer should be about 140 degrees. If the temperature is excessive to the point where it is melting things and the cabinet is too hot to touch, make sure the heater is regulating as it should. I would use some extreme caution about using your dryer until you have this problem corrected. I would not use it under any circumstances if you are not going to be home, or if you are going to bed. Dryers are one of the number causes of fires in homes. Good luck to you and let me know if I can help any further.
