It acts like it is not getting the signal from the laptop video port, you should try it with another monitor also, and by the way, did you use the Fn key and either F5, 6, or 7 (depend on the laptop brand and model) to select Internal, External, or both monitors?

My Acer aspire ax1700 PC dsektop wont work and here are the steps I took: First one day it wouldn't power up - The power led would blink once the fan (power supply) would come on for a split second and...

Hi, I had the same inital problem as you, except I didn't put a new video card as I was please with the Onboard card performance that even has an HDMI port. Not sure if your problem is solved already, but in my working process, I first suspected the Power Supply, and I had everything out of the case but the Mother Board. When I tried to fire it up I was always getting "No signal" on the screen, not even a blink from the BIOS. I then put everything back in place, then after the HD started spinning of and Windows booting, the screen started coming on. I felt it was like if I needed Windows to have a clean booth to replace the video drivers and switch to the InBoard card. Hoping this of any help.

My Acer monitor will nnnot come on, it just keeps blinking. what can I do?

The monitor isn't seeing the video signal from the computer. You could have a problem with the monitor, it's cord, or video card in your computer. Try another monitor to check the cable and video card. Once you determine the bad part, you'll have to replace it or have it repaired. Get an estimate first if it's the monitor, since the cost of repair can be fairly high.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

While using my acer 4720z laptop the monitor blinks n comes with different colors n blinks again

Bad news: this is a sign of your video card or LCD failing. To check out which is failing, connect a known-good monitor to your laptop. If the color changing and blinking occurs on the second monitor- it's the video card. If it doesn't: it's the LCD.

Moniter keeps blinking analog and digital at the

This happens when your monitor cannot detect a VGA or Digital port, either on the monitor it self or at the video card. If you don't hook it up to anything at all and turn it on it will do this.

Step #1
First make sure that you have the cables properly connected to the monitor and to the video card using either a VGA port (blue one) or the Digital port (grey or white one). If this doesn't fix it move on to step #2.

Step #2
Try troubleshooting your video card by hooking up another monitor (if available) and see if it too is inactive. If you test with a proven functional monitor and it wont activate then you are most likely looking at a faulty video card. If your test monitor works, you may be looking at either a faulty cable or a faulty brand new monitor (it happens).

**Note: craigslist.org in the "free stuff" section is a great place to find free CRT monitors for free if you don't have one to use yourself.**

Also try to hook up your Samsung monitor to another PC (if available) to see if you get different results. If you do that and it works, that is a sign that you have a faulty video card in the first PC.

**Note: Depending on how you are trying to use your monitor (PC's only monitor, or as a secondary monitor for a PC or laptop) you may need to make sure that in your display settings you have the box checked that says "extend my windows desktop to this monitor" (Windows XP). If you are intending to use it as a secondary you will need to have this box checked or it wont be recognized.**

If you determine that the most likely cause is that your monitor or cable supplied are faulty, Samsung or your retailer should help you get a replacement. Both will ask you to verify the results of steps 1 and 2 before honoring a warranty.

I hope that this information helps. If it doesn't, post back with more information and I will try to help you find a viable solution

Good Luck!

ACER P221W No display and power light blinking

Hello,

You have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of he monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictues and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. If the monitor does not have any bad caps then I would be that when the video card died it sent a spike to the monitor and killed the driver board. I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

I just got an acer zg5 and the screen is blank

It sounds like your trying to use a full size monitor with your laptop. If that's the case you have to send the video to the cabled monitor by pressing the "fn" (function key) and then pressing the corresponding key that refers to a secondary video device (i.e. projector, monitor, etc.). Typically you press "fn" and f4 (should have monitor looking picture next to it), Some laptops are different, so look at your function (F1 - F12) keys to see which one is correct.

Windows XP Pro. driver for the acer LCD Monitor X193W

Hi,

To my knowledge, it is compatible and certainly would work with XP. Since this monitor has both DVI and VGA inputs make is compatible for most video cards or even a built-in video of the PC. If for some reason the Acer X193W would not work with your Windows XP PC, possible reasons are:
  • Screen Resolution and/or Screen refresh Rate of the PC's Display Properties too high, try lowering them down;
  • hardware fault either on the monitor or video card;
  • incorrect/missing drivers of the video card;
  • it is being hooked as a secondary monitor and the dual/twin view is not activated.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Acer Aspire 5585 Laptop LCD Problem

Have you tried booting into "Enable VGA" mode via the "Windows Advance Option" screen? By press F8 before Windows XP loading screen comes up. In this mode the Video Card drivers are disabled. So if your screen appears normal and not white in this Mode then it is your video card drivers which are causing the issue.

Assuming the cpu is on, then the likely culprit is your video card or your onboard video. Either replace the exsisting video card or add a video card to your system.
