We bought Acer TravelMate 2420 almost 2 years ago without recovery CD and now we need this CD so bad and we don't know what to do. We have a virus and we need to restore the Laptop but we can't without that CD, because system restore is not working.

Contact acer or check their website they should have a disk you can either download or order, they might charge to order it though to do a full wipe of the system and reinstall. otherwise you can di a full format and install from scratch with the OS of your choice. but that would leave you to search for the required drivers.

I have my acer travelmate 2420 laptop. Some of its keys like P, 1, etc are not working. Is there any troubleshooting steps for checking the keyboard or I need to replace the keyboard?

Keyboard needs to be replaced. - Go to Acer.com they should have instructions on how to replace the keyboard. Then google this "Keyboard acer travelmate 2420" this should give you some prices for the keyboard. Should be around $24.00

Possible to replace keys on Acer TravelMate 2420?

what you need to do is go around the pc repair shops with your laptop and ask them if they have any spare parts for the keyboard, this could be a tedious job though and take a while to track any spares.
you may end up replacing the whole keyboard, which may work out cheaper in the end

good luck and kind regards

Make recovery discs for travelmate 5520

Hi,

There are two (2) versions of the Acer TravelMate 5520; TM5520-5313 (LX.TKU0Z.001) & TM5520-5678 (LX.TKU0Z.003).

There are two (2) possible ways you can get Recovery CDs:
1. Purchase from Acer here. You would need your 22 character Serial Number or the SNID which is 11 chars.;
2. Borrow from a friend with identical model, copy and burn to CD(s).

Alternately, you can install Windows Vista using an OEM CD (which again can be borrowed). You need to use the Windows key normally found in a sticker underneath the laptop. Thereafter, you need to download from the Acer website the appropriate drivers and install. You would need to select your Product Line, the Product itself and eventually the driver(s) that you need.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
