Unfortunately beep codes change from manufacture to manufacture and even from model to model with some companies. 3 beeps on start-up is typically related to a memory failure but based on the way you described the issue it is possible there is an issue with the integrated video. The link below will bring you to HP's official trouble shooting guide. I recommend removing and reseating memory modules. A hard reset is also a good idea.
