Thanks, but i cannot find appropriate download.

    After downloading patches, problem remains.

Indication is "The log file C:Program Files/Ubi Soft/Chessmaster 9000/CM9kUninst.isu" is not valid or the data has been corrupted".

Problem remains = Chessmaster will not work, and unistall fails.

Many thanks, the following happened :

-From disc, ".exe" search yields "Setup". Double-click, buzz but nothing else

-Selecting and copying all files from (2) discs to C - uninstall still refused due to "Uninst.isu" missing or corrupt (though I see it).

On the other hand, Play fails giving reason "fatal error loading the Mentor opening book"

    grateful for any suggestion!

    best regards, D

Put the disc in the tray, go to start menu, my computer, then find your disc drive. Go to properties or search files, find the install.exe file or chessmaster.exe file and double-click on it and let me know what happens.
You can also leave that window open with all the files on the cd, then go to start menu, my computer, c: drive, then find program files. Find the folder that contains all the files on it.
Then look back on the disc drive. Find the files that are missing on the c: drive folder and add them by dragging and dropping the files from cd over to the folder on the c: drive.

I would check the discs for any files that you don't have on your c: drive already and then add them by drag and drop and then try.

My dvd/cd-rom is not able to play a dvd or cd of anytype

Restart your PC and go into your BIOS and disable the CD/DVD-R, this way it doesn't detect your CD/DVD-R it when you boot to Windows. Once you're in Windows, do a re-start again and go back into your BIOS and enable the CD/DVD-R.

What video formats will RCA DRC279 DVD Player read

Hello

This player is compactable with DVDs, ACDs, Video CDS, CDs and JPEG files. You can't play the following type of discs. Laser discs, CD-1, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, or discs recorded using other boradcast standards (ie PAL or SECAM); CDG discs.

If you want the user manual to this player, inform me by fixya comment, along with your email address. I'll send a copy of the user manual to you by return mail. It has all details. I can't send it to you by this window, as it does not allow ma to upload PDF files by it.

How to delete operating system .

When deleting the operating system you have to have a restore disc or the master disc for an Operating System to be re-installed again. You will then have to insert the Operating System disc in the drive and then restart select boot from CD or DVD whichever you have on your lap top then you will have to format the drive with this disc it all should just do it for you select complete install. This will wipe files currently on the hard drive and enable you to restore your machine back to its original condition as you purchased it.
You computer should be by default to boot from CD ROM first boot. If not get to the BIOS press F2 when the system first boots it will take you to the BIOS then set in the BOOT order as first boot being CD or DVD first boot and hard disc second boot. Then restart and have the Operating System Disc in. If you do not have an operating system disc that came with your computer you can get one from Dell just order it and use this disc. Do not try to install just the basic Windows because Dell has all of their drivers installed on their restore discs and you will play heck trying to get the drivers. Unless you have a legal copy of Win 7 go ahead and go for it then. Making sure to be online when installing Win 7 so that it can seek driver files during the installation.
I hope this assisted you. Thanks for using FixYa for all your questions. John

Computer does not recognize it as a CD RW drive

When you try to write data to an optical disc, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

* You receive various disc write error messages.
* You experience issues with the drive and the built-in recording feature of Windows XP.
* You experience issues with third-party programs that you use to write data to the disc.
* You cannot read the disc in all versions of Windows.
* You cannot read the disc, or some files on the disk, by using an MP3 player.
* When you add files or folders to a disc that already contains data, some files are lost.
* Recording files to the disc is inconsistent.
* The disc recording operation is consistently unsuccessful.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Troubleshooting specific errors
If you experience one of the following errors, follow the appropriate steps to resolve the error.

* There is no disc in the drive. Please insert a writable CD into drive.
This error can occur if the CD-R drive or CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device. This error can also occur if the device driver has been corrupted. To resolve this issue, see Method 3 in the "General troubleshooting" section and Method 1 in the "Advanced troubleshooting" section.

* Drive not accessible, incorrect function
This error message typically occurs when you try to write to a CD-R or a CD-RW, and the Windows XP built-in disc recording feature does not recognize the CD drive as a recordable drive. This error message may also occur if specific third-party programs are installed. For more information about how to troubleshoot this error,

when you access the CD-ROM drive, the DVD-ROM drive, or the CD-RW drive
* Error Deleting File or Folder.
Cannot delete file name. Files on this CD-ROM drive are read-only. You cannot copy or move files over to this CD-ROM drive.

This error message can occur because individual files cannot be deleted from the CD-RW. You cannot use the CD disc recording feature of Windows XP for random-access storage while you are writing to disc.

To set the service to Automatic, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc /s, and then click OK.
2. Double-click IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service.
3. Under Service Status, click Start.
4. Try to write data to a CD.

Deleted cd-rw/dvd-rom driver

I talked directly with HP about your problem. Unless you can find the driver in system32 or your windows installation disc, you will likely have to reinstall windows. Prepare a backup of all important files on that desktop though, because data loss is possible.

What to do when windows is deleted

The only thing you can do is get a copy of Windows from online, retail store, or if you were given one with your computer. Put the disc in the cd rom and it will automatically reload.

Hi.. Can't burn but can play from my CD Rom station.

You have burning rights enabled?, check your system setting.
You use Nero it has a separate setting, default on, but if somebody unchecked that.......
Sure you use right disc kind?
Re-install your burn software and let it do a support check for your drive.

MY CD ROM DOES NOT PLAY ANY VIDEO OR AUDIO FILE

Most likely this is a failed CD drive or failed CD reader board in the drive. You can try cleaning the lens, and uninstalling the drivers for the drive from the device manager, but most liky you will have to replace the drive. When you unistall the drivers, restart the machine. it will find the CD drive and reinstall the drivers automatically. If a lens cleaning kit, or reinstalling the drivers do not work, then I'm afraid the drive will need replaced.

You can repair that by booting your system using the CD ROM and the select to repair windows.

If ever this will not solve then;
You should backup your files and reinstall the windows operating system.

In installing operating system you need the following:

Boot your system any of this CD/DVD disc and then follow the on screen instruction.

After installation, don,t forget to install the drivers of your system that was enlosed in your system.
