Question about Samsung LN46A630 LCD TV

1 Answer

There is a 4" to 5" column of lines running down the right hand side of the screen. When you first turn the tv on the lines are different colors and they run straight up and down. After the set warms up, they become more like static...the easiest way I know to explain it is...on the old type tv...it looks like the picture is rolling. It remains the same no matter what the source is...ie. cable box, ant., blu ray player. Any ideas...or is it going to cost more to fix than its worth?

Hi,
It sounds bad lcd panel in your Samsung LN46A630 and if tv is under warranty, please call Samsung or Store for warranty cover.
If tv is out of warranty then T-Con board replacement might solve tv issue.
There are two type of t-con boards used in this tv and local tv repairman will confirm what type of t0con board is required, T-Con-1 and T-Con-2 are available with Shop Jimmy
Again, I would say, it seems bad lcd panel and t-con board replacement might fix the issue. (t-con board is part of lcd panel but few spare parts shop sell it separately)
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

It depends on your expertise, t-con board is located at top center of lcd panel if you see its rear side and will be covered under metal shield.
Two flexible ribbon wires are hooked in long flat connectors of t-con board that are coming from lcd panel, these are fragile, delicate ribbon wires and must be handle carefully.
Click on above links to see t-con board images and find out which one is mounted in your tv to get same replacement.
    Thanks.

What is the safest way to remove the 2 paper connectors from the lcd display?

Not from lcd display, 2 flexible ribbon wires will be removed from t-con board connectors, unlock the connector by lifting up bar on connector and slide out ribbon wire.

OK, if t-con board replacement did not solved the problem then it is bad lcd panel as it was explained before.
I would like to see picture of screen.

I got pictures but file size is too small like thumbnail image.
Email me full size picture taken by good digital camera because I have to enlarge it to determine the lines

Yes, pictures are fine this time.
It is lcd panel problem and complete lcd panel (screen) will be replaced.

New lcd panel would cost you approx 80% of new tv price and would be available only with Samsung service center, now you can decide better, either get it repair or buy new one.
    Thanks.

Sanyo flat screen tv about 2 yrs old has thin colored horizontal lines down the right side

Nothing you can do about that...get used to it or change the TV.
It's a defect in the panel that can't be reliably fixed.

LG 37LE5300 HAS HALF BLACK SCREEN

THIS set uses 2 boards inside--one drives the left and the other the right side of the screen.

You have to id which is which (GOOGLE?) AND replace it-every brand has different names for these but it sounds like your problem

Some research (you or me) should give a board breakdown for this model---not looking for main or power board but another like sustain etc. and there will be 2 listed (for right and the left sides)

I have a Samsung 42" plasma Model HP-R4252 TV and now I see a group of blue/purple vertical lines on the right side of the screen from top to bottom. Each one is about 1mm in width but all together they...

You may have to change the DMD (Digital Micromirror Device). Also you may have to change the color wheel and lamp; the DMD will cost you around $200-$300. The color wheel and lamp will together cost you another $300.
This type of tv repair may be very expensive especially if you have to pay a technician to perform the repair for you.
It's at that point that you may decide to invest in a new unit.
