Uninstall the driver, restart Install latest sound driver.

I have just set up my onkyo 5305 i only have sound to front speakers have checked connection but im lost now in the settings


Onkyo are known for having 2 seperate connections for the rear speakers. 1 set for a surround sound, channel "A", and 1 set for seperate set a speakers, channel "B". check for the second set of connections. Also, your only gonna get sound out of the rear speakers thru surround sound mode when the unit actually sends singal. The sound is determined buy what setting you have the receiver set to.

I cannot get any sound from my speakers or the monitor speakers. I have plugged the green cable to the monitor and to the green connector on the tower with no luck. I have also plugged the extra speaker...


It sound like you have connected them correctly however unless they are multi-channel speakers you should only have to connect the green cable. Check to see if the volume control on your speakers/monitor and also OS are turned up and not on mute and also check to see that you have sound drivers installed for your sound device/card.

There are a number of different reasons why your computer may no longer give sound.
Check the Speaker Connections and Volume Control Settings

Verify that the lack of sound is not due to faulty speaker connections. A simple way to test it is to substitute the speaker connection with headphones and see if you get any sound.

I am unable to get the speakers to work at all. They will not play system sounds or anything. Troubleshooter suggested that I uninstall and reinstall the speakers. So I uninstalled and went to reinstall...


I don't know what is the operating system you are using with your computer.Still we can check, first we need to find out if the problem is with the speaker or with the computer.

Try these steps
  • connect those speakers with other computer check the sound, if you are getting sound there it means speakers are ok need to check computer audio setup and hardware.
  • If you are not getting any sound connecting speakers with other computer then it is speakers need to replace.

Incase speakers are ok Disconnect the speakers

  • restart the computer,check if there is windows sound if not
  • right click on the volume control icon on the left hand button corner of the screen,uncheck the mute option.still not getting any sound?
  • try to download the audio driver from the dell support site.still not getting
  • need to check the internal speaker connection,if it is fine
  • go to this website http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and click on Restore sound -windows Audio service and run the tweak,YOU NEED TO USE INTERNET EXPLORER
  • still you cannot hear the sound change the internal speaker.

MY OLD INSIGNIA SPEAKERS (WITHA SUB-WOOFER) WENT UP SO I GOT A SIMPLE 2 SPEAKER INSIGNIA 2.0 POWERED SPEAKERS. NOW I CANT GET ANY SOUND. ANY THOUGHTS?


1. Try looking in the taskbar of the Windows screen and selecting the volume control ( a speaker icon) check the mixer see if the volume is not muted or in the "0" position
2.Check the "input port on the sound card where you connected the new speaker assembly.
3. Check the volume control knob on the speaker assembly to see if it is not in the off or lowest volume position.
4. Check the new speaker by connecting them to another computer that has the sound already on and working this will let you know that the speaker assembly is good.
6. check the sound card drivers to the internal sound card that is on the mother board if this is where your sound card is located. Use the "manager" to see if it is working properly. If not then do a "reinstall of the sound card drivers or use the "update feature in the hardware window for the sound card to install the latest version of sound card drivers.

I read your problem.
your problem is that you don't hear any sound from your speaker when you connect to your pc and you also say your setting are correct.
but again you check your setting in my way
  1. Go to control panel
  2. than go in your sound option
  3. than check your speaker wire pin is connected properly if not than connect it properly
  4. is your computer show your speaker are connected properly
  5. than there is a option to test or check your speaker means it when you click your left speaker create sound than right
  6. if you hear sound means it is correct or your hear only one side than check your volume option
  7. if you don't hear any sound it means your speaker is dead.And also connect nearby computer shop.

There is no software for speaker , first off all u should check the sound driver of ur computer if it is install but no sound coming out plz uninstall the driver from ur computer then restart , after restarting ur computer then install the driver properly then check the cbale of ur speaker whether it is properly connected to the right port of the computer

Try this:

Go to Control Panel >> Sounds and Audio Devices. Click on Advanced button under Speaker Settings and for Speaker Setup select 5.1 surround sound speakers from the options. Click Apply >> Ok and then check.

Audio do not play


Unplug speaker connection. Go to Control Panel, double-click on "Sounds and Audio Devices" and on "Volume" tab make sure "mute" is not checked and that volume is sufficiently up there. If thats ok select "Sounds" tab and go to "Program events", select any Windows sounds and check to see if you can hear the sound by clicking on the arrow next to it. If you can hear sound its ok so then check your speakers connection to correct sound output jack and that external speaker is powered on.
