Try Internet Explorer. If problem persists, investigate modem/router or PC adapter settings. If your issue is with one particular site, perhaps the issue is with the website itself and out of your control.

Registry errors

You may have encountered the following message while browsing certain websites:

"Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://<website>.com. Operation aborted."

This really has nothing to do with your browser or your computer. You get this error because of faulty web coding from the webmaster's end.

IE displays this error when it is unable to open a particular element on a web page.

There are many things you can do to troubleshoot this kind of problem.

Upgrade Internet Explorer.

This problem does not occur in Internet Explorer 8. Navigate to Microsoft download Center and click on the "Download" button to upgrade to IE8 or IE9 (see Below).

http://download.cnet.com/windows-internet-explorer-8/3000-2356_4-10910662.html

IE 8

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx

IE 9

Click on "Tools" and select "Internet Options." Hit the "Advanced" tab.

Click to remove the check mark next to "Show friendly HTTP error messages" under "Browsing" sub-headings.

Click on "Apply" and hit "OK." Please note this works mostly for Internet Explorer 6, although there is no harm in trying this on older or newer versions.

Add the specific website that is producing "Operation aborted" error under "Restricted Sites."

Click on the "Security" tab under "Internet Options."

Single-click to highlight "Restricted Sites."

Hit on the "Sites" button and click on "Add."

Type the URL of the website and hit "OK."

This works for Internet Explorer 7, but again, you can try this in earlier versions.

Disable or require prompt for "Active Scripting" when you view the specific website.

Click on the "Security" tab.

Click to highlight 'Restricted Sites" zone.

Navigate down to the sub-heading "Scripting."

Click to select "Disabled" under "Active Scripting."

You may also choose "Prompt" if you want IE to issue a prompt when opening the specific web page or website.

If you are still worried about the registry or need to fix any problems with it

You can run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

Hope this helps.

The site does not load when I'm trying to purchase things online! I get an error message 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT): The connection timed out

HI Inhishands,

This problem occurs because of a possible firewall block ,

Incase you are using firewall or anitvirus , try disabling it and then see if you are able to connect to the secure website.

First disable the firewall / anitvirus.

Then restart your browser and check if it works , if it does not work for a specific browser for e.g. Google chrome , then try running the website in either internet explorer or mozilla firefox.

Websites which are genuine , do have SSL technology for added security so that your transactions are safe but make sure you have the accurate website address and not similar looking but a fraud one.

When you find that it was indeed a firewall problem you need to add this website as an exception using your firewall/antivirus settings.

Hope this helps ..:) Let me know in case you have any queries.

I want a solution for the error 118 (net:conn_time_out)

I had the same problem with my 64bit windows7."Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT)"
The problem is with your IP address and it doesn't matter if you use google chrome or other browsers.
You simply have to renew your IP address in the following way:

1.Get to a command prompt in your startup menu and type: cmd
now you are in command mode
2.type: "ipconfig/release" (without the quotes ,on the command line by itself)
3.type: "ipconfig/renew" (without the quotes ,on the command line by itself

This is cause by some plugin error.
may be you can not see messages even after reinstalling yahoo messenger.
so...here is the easy way to solve this problem.

1- create a "NEW USER ACCOUNT" from 'control panel>user account for yourself and restart your computer.
2- login to the new user account and go to control panel> user accounts, and then delete ur old user account ( u may want to save your personal folder and files when prompt)( if you want to save your internet explorer favourites , do it manually )
3- just connect your internet and enjoy yahoo messenger.

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

If the error comes only with a particular website then it is possible the website is not operating or has closed down.

But if the error is coming with all websites then your internet connection may be faulty. Hard to provide much more help without details of your internet connection type, the operating system on your laptop, etc.

Hotmail problems

This is a common problem with hotmail actually. If you are using internet explorer. Click on tools then internet options. clear your cache and cookies and temporary internet files. If that still does not work, try to download another browser such as firefox from www.firefox.com and try it with that.
