Did you try this free webcam test tool? There is a drop down box below the live camera window where you can select your webcam.

How do i get my web cam back working on toshiba a505-s6960? i had vista home, but changed it to windows 7!

It might be that there is a problem with the driver since u update from vista to windows7. Kindly go to START, press it, look for COMPUTER (word), right click and then select properties, press Device Manager, look for the web cam icon, right click the icon under it, then select properties. Look for the DEVICE STATUS. Now, you can see if the device is working properly or not. If it is not then, go to Driver Tab next to General Tab, under it you can see Driver Details, Update Driver, Enable or Disable and Uninstall. Now, look at Enable or Disable, if it is Disable, click it to become Enable then, restart the computer. If it is Enable already, try Update Driver by pressing the Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software. Be sure also that you have internet connection. Now, if it has installed updates, then restart computer, then see the results. If not, try to install by using cd installer for your webcam. If you nothings, happen then, there might be compatibility problems on windows7 or the webcam itself. Better go to the nearest brand service center and have your unit checked by them. If it is under warranty, you don't have to worry about fees. If there are charges, try to negotiate at least you will have discount. I just hope that these infos helped u in a way.

I have a lenovo Y430. My web cam and DVD roam are not working. Could you kindly tell me a good service cernter in hyderabad.

Hi, if you want you could try pressing Fn+Esc key to enable or disable your webcam or try updating first the drivers for your webcam. You can find all the drivers for your laptop on this website http://tinyurl.com/2e35s6u. regarding your DVD rom you could try updating the drivers or try deleting the upper or lower filter on the registry and restarting your computer afterwards just follow this instruction on how to delete the upper or lower filters on the registry
1. go to start search or if your using XP go to RUN then type in there regedit then press enter
2 go to this folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318
3. look for the upper and lower filter and right click then delete. after removing those restart your compter

if this doesnt fix the issue you might consider replacing your DVD roam.

hope it helps

When i try to use my webcam on skype, it comes up being used on another application, the cam is built in to my hp pavillion dv9000, how do you get it off and on to skype?

Sometimes the webcam software can 'hang on' to another program if you have been using it elsewhere. Even if you you have exited that program correctly it can still happen.
With my webcam I can reboot it by unplugging it from the USB and plugging it back in after a few seconds.
As yours is built-in you will have to reboot the whole computer, use a keyboard shortcut, (if the machine has one) or 'disable' and then 'enable' the webcam from the Device Manager.

Ecap not working after updating bios

On my Eee PC updating the BIOS can turn off the Ecap, webcam, WLAN, and Bluetooth.

(Ecap gives the message "driver not found".)

The systems tray contains an applet for changing the screen resolution and enabling/disabling the webcam, WLAN, and Bluetooth.

By disabling, then re-enabling, the webcam life returns to Ecap.

Inbuilt camera ( webcam) is not working. Device

I had the same issue... Windows update had installed an updated driver that 'broke' the camera... just roll back your driver and you'll be fine.

*I think MS has fixed this issue and the new driver from windows update is working correctly. If not just roll back to the original and all's well.

Cant turn my built in webcam on??

Hi,

This is known Webcam issue in DV6000 notebooks. To resolve or narrow down the issue, we have to check few things.

First open Device Manager.

Please follow these steps to open Device Manager:

1. Right Click on 'My Computer' icon on Desktop and choose Properties.
2. The System properties Window opens.
3. Click Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.

Expand + Imagining Devices and check if the HP Webcam is listed under it.

If Webcam is not listed there, then you have to contact HP to get the BIOS update.

If it is listed there, right click on it and select Disable. Again right click on it and select Enable.

Now open any applications like Quickplay and check if Webcam is working or not.

Please reply me if that won't resolve the issue, I can provide more work arounds

Some times BIOS disable webcam after updating it.

To enable it do the followings:

1. Restart your Eee PC.
2. Press F2 while booting (to enter BIOS sittings)
3. Go to "advanced" tab (by pressing right arrow)
4. Select "Onboard Device Configuration" (by pressing down arrow)
5. From there you can find if "Onboard Camera" is enabled or not.
6. If not, just press enter to pick "Enabled"

I hope that would help :-)
