Toshoba tv/dvd combo. won't play many dvd's. makes clicking sound as it tries to load movie?

Dear Lesley!
It looks, like your DVD lens might get contaminated with dust and/or dirt, which is being picked up off DVDs. Let's try to load music CD, instead or DVD. If it loads well, I will suggest, that your DVD player is at fault and you must give up using it. External basic DVD players are quite inexpensive and easy to connect to your TV. But: if no CD, nor DVD load, the solution might be much simpler: use lens cleaner CD with brushes. good ones might even have a special fluid, which applied to brushes(alcohol based). Just load it into your TV's player and follow audible directions. After couple attempts, your lens should be clean enough to play DVDs. Please, don't try to use any "ear swabs", instead. The lengths is not long enough, plus it may damage load mechanism or get stuck inside. I've seen such a cases lately.
Good luck,
Thank you,
Alex.

I put a dvd in and it says it is loading and then it says no disc found even though it is in the dvd player. I have tried several different dvd's.

Hi,
Unfortunately , Some DVD players cant read some DVD s and
then it gives either "loading" or " no disc"..reading on the display...

it generally happens when you want to play "A copied DVD/CD " taken from somewhere else..
Just to make sure that such DVD is ok ,you can try to run them on your laptop. If the disc itself has problem, laptop does not read either..
Since you h
ave not stated,if it is an old player pls Clean your DVD player's LASER lens anyway .. A clean DVD player Lens ensures that your DVD disc would be read properly. Unfortunately, your DVD player's Lens accumulate as much dust and lint as the other parts of the DVD player. Is your DVD player malfunctioning? If you're getting a no-disc error, you may need to clean the DVD player's laser pickup. The laser pickup is what reads DVD's and allows you to view them on your TV. If you need to clean the laser pickup lens on a DVD player, follow these simple steps.
Difficulty: Moderate Instructions things you'll need:

  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • DVD lens cleaner
    • 1 Make sure the laser pickup lens is actually the problem. There are a wide variety of reasons that a DVD player might not read a disc efficiently. The disc could be scratched or dirty, for example. Test the DVD player with a disc that you know works before trying to clean the lens.
    • 2 Purchase or borrow a lens cleaner disc and try it first. You can find these things really cheap at any large department store. They usually get the job done well. However, you may need to clean the lens manually if the store-bought cleaner fails.
    • 3 Remove the outer casing of the DVD player. Remove the screws that mount the top casing onto the bottom of the DVD player and slide the top casing off. This will expose the DVD deck, which houses the laser pickup lens.
    • 4 Find the lens. The lens will be glass and under the DVD clamp. The lens will probably have a blue tint to it. If you are having trouble finding the lens, you could shine a light on the components and watch for the reflection.
    • 5 Use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe the lens. Just a quick scrub will do. Dry the laser pickup lens with the other end of the swab.
    • 6 Give the lens a few seconds to dry and replace the covering of the DVD player. Test the efficiency of the player. If necessary, repeat the process.

What type of disc do you need to record, I bought DVD+RDL but it keeps ejecting

What are you trying to record on.First you need a recorder. You cannot just put a cd or dvd in a player to record. They are play back only. Now what media are you putting in your recorder. If it is a cdr it will not record on dvd. What you said is you are using a dvd+rdl which is a dvd+ media with double layer (meaning 9.4 gig instead of 4.7 data).Any dvd recorder can handle the dl media.Look on the facinfg of the carriage and it will tell tell you the media intened to be used. cdr/cdrw or dvd/dvd-dl.Hope this helps

Iv burnt my file to dvd rom and it plays ok on pc but when i put it on my dvd video player it says incorrect disk.

You need a correct dvd burning program. First see what file extension your dvd player takes and then find the correct file converter on the internet. I have used several and Foxtab works real good. Real player has one but it is not free. Windows media player has one but you need to see what formats are needed before you burn the dvd. You see your pc already does that for you is why it plays on your computer.

How to decode Philips DVD DVP3146K/98 not reading some of my DVD tapes

Hi,

There are three things you can do that will eventually give you a working solution. Depending on the level of problem. Start with 1 progress to 3 until it works.
1. Use a cleaning disc. (one that use an alcohol based liquid)

2. If the cleaning disc does not solve it, you can use an ear bud, with some iso-propyl alcohol to clean the DVD lens on the drive directly. (you have to open the player and the drive)

3. The guaranteed working solution is to replace the DVD drive inside the player. This is quite a simple process, as most players use a standard IDE DVD-ROM or DVD writer.

You simply remove the face plate, (apply power to the drive, and press eject first) the tray will open. Unclip the tray face, and then with the tray open you can unclip the plastic face plate too.

Remove the old drive, and fit the new drive by reversing the removal procedure.

Once everything is assembled you should be able to watch DVD's again. If you can't find a cheap DVD drive locally, try ebay.

I have done this on over 50 players for my clients in the past. I use LG IDE DVD roms and IDE DVD writers for the DVD recorders, irrespective of brand.

Let me know how it goes.

DVD's music and background but no talking

Try adjusting the sound on the tv. If you go into the "user" audio options you can select between normal and True Surround SXT. That may work. Otherwise, try playing with your dvd player's options. The problem I'm having is the tv plays the sound before the picture.
