On the screen itself, where it plugs in, it should give you a voltage rating, and a line with a C encompassing a circle. Make sure that these two things match up between the two screens, they should, but at the same time, there is the possibility that they don't. Also, make sure the plug is the right size. Yes, it should work, but I would just take the extra precautions listed above to prevent frying your monitor.

IT almost sounds if the monitor itself is overheating? Have you tried shutting the monitor off for 15 or so minutes then turning it back on? It may also be a video card overheating issue. Make sure your PC and Monitor both have adequate ventilation.
IF this doesn't help the situation, try updating the video drivers as well.
Try sending monitor back as most Benq monitors come with at least a two years silver warranty.
Benq are very helpful and their repairers are quick and polite. You will find their no.s on their website www.benq.com my monitor was experiencing the same and for $10 postage and a one week wait is repaired and working fine.
