Yes, if it is not finding your hard drive it will not load Windows. Windows is on the hard drive.

Primary master wdc

Primary Master .
This is where the hard disk parameters are entered for the primary master IDE/ATA device, the first drive in a modern IDE system. See the hard disk section for details on what these terms mean and how these devices are set up. The various settings for the drive are discussed in detail in the IDE Setup / Autodetection section. The default setting for this on a system with IDE autodetection, is usually "Auto"

WDC That Mean Western Digital Company. This's Logo HDD.

Probably the hard drive is dead. Did you drop it recently? Anyway, it could be just the connector, if your good with hardware you could open it and check. I would suggest you to use the warranty though.

How to replace the Hard Drive?

1. First, back up your critical files (don't forget your Outlook .PST archive) to optical discs, an external drive, or online storage.
2. Examine data and power connections (SATA or IDE, depending on the drive), a power adapter cable (with some SATA drives), and screws.
116hdrive2a.jpg116hdrive2b.jpg 3. Mount and connect the drive
When installing SATA drives, jumper settings usually aren't an issue. That's not true of IDE, where a jumper indicates whether a drive is a primary ("master") or secondary ("slave") drive. Check its documentation for the proper setting
4. Configure the BIOS, Next, boot into your PC's BIOS-setup utility to verify that it recognizes the new drive and positions it correctly in the drive hierarchy. (Check your PC's startup screen to determine which key launches the utility.) If the utility lets you select the boot order, give your intended boot drive priority over any other hard drive
Save changes and exit the utility. Your PC will reboot
5. Partition and format your hard drive, Click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management, and choose Disk Management from the tree at left. Your new drive should appear, with a black bar indicating it isn't partitioned. Right-click the bar, and choose New Partition to launch the New Partition wizard. Click Next, and check that Primary Partition is selected; click Next again, to the Specify Partition Size screen (don't change the partition size in the "Partition size in MB" field); and click Next to advance to another screen, on which "Assign the following drive letter" should be selected. Click Next yet again (to the Format Partition screen), and ensure that "Format this partition with the following settings" is selected and that the "File system" drop-down reads "NTFS." Click Next a final time, hit Finish, and formatting begins.

Acer 5534 will not boot up....tried recovery disk....but nothing......error message PXE-E61-media test failure..........no bootable device

Hello:
Your Acer laptop is not detecting a bootable device, for sure your hard disk is:
1.- Malfunctioning and has lost its master boot record.
2.- It can be ruined and must be replaced.

In the first case, primary and recovery partition are bad, as you mention the recovery process failed (ctrl +F11). First, press F2 during POST, when "a enter Setup message" is prompted on the bottom of screen to check if the hard disk is listed on the Main BIOS properties. If detected, the hard disk can be recovered booting from DVD-ROM. In the BIOS setup utility, you need to select boot from de DVD-RW. Insert Windows 7 setup disk and it will check for possible boot errors, choose repair when prompted. Follow the instructions. The system will restart.
If the hard disk was not detected in BIOS properties, you should ask Acer for guarantee.
You may review this link for further information: http://www.acerlaptoprepairs.info/aspire-5534/
I hope this helps. Thanks

Hard drive not working

hi im josh in cebu phils.Friend if that happens whrein your 2nd hdd dont detect. Try to use these solutions. Check first the jumper of the hardisk whether it is stated as slave or master. if 2nd disk is master the jumper should be in the master and if it is slave the jumper must be slave. or try to use another IDE cable. put them as both master the first hdd in first ide slot and your 8 GB 2nd hardisk in 2nd slot as master also. or try to enter bios setup utility then try to check or detect the both device.thats all good luck
