Upgrade my processor And RAM

Thanks for your speedy comment.

However, I also need to find out whether I can also upgrade the RAM to 3 GB PC 2700 DDR RAM

I was the one who asked you about the Soltek SL-75DRV5 motherboard to upgrade processor. I have another question for you.

Plse revert ASAP.

    Sir,

As U know, Athlon XP is now an obsolete item. As such, is it possible to instal Athlon x2 into the same motherboard as above.

Beside that, I reside in Malaysia, Do you know anywhere that I can get this Athlon XP if the above proposal is unacceptable.

    Plse revert ASAP

Yes, you have 3 slots on your mobo, each slot supports 1 GB. Below is a link where you can buy compatible memory for your motherboard.

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC3200,DDR PC2700 with a maximum of 1GB per slot, total of 3 GB.

You cannot put an Athlon X2 into your motherboard. The socket type is different, (Socket AM2), and the speed of the front side bus of the processor is too fast for your computer. Your board has a maximum front side bus of 166 Mhz, the athlon x2 runs at speeds of over 2000 Mhz.

Which RAM to use for Soltek SL-75DRV/-v

Leif: The difference in the numbers (2700 versus 3200) is speed rating-- basically, the higher the number the faster the RAM. Your computer is currently using 2700, so it's safe to use 3200, it's just faster than is currently used/specified.
Your computer is a Socket A - AMD Via-based board, so it is likely the motherboard will accept 1 GB memory modules. With three slots open, you would want to buy 2, 1-GB modules for best results. At current pricing, that would cost about $100. 2- 512MB modules would be next-best and around $55. Be sure to place the two modules in the slots next to each other, and closest to the processor for best results.

Memory upgrade

you can use any DDR 180pin. But having two RAM of different speeds may not be compatible sometimes, so upgrade it to 1Gb by just using (1) 1Gb pc3200.
