Question about Acer Aspire One PC Notebook
When it refers to memory ..it is not for sure that it refers to the hard disk ..specially if you formatted it (normally not quick ) from scratch ..and reinstalled the operation system ..so ..if this error is a blue screen ..try to check the cpu ventilation ...and also ..go to bios ..and default all settings ..(so that you know for sure you do not have any overclocking or heat protection ) ..To do that ,,press f2 on start and in the bios settings look for optimal factory settings .and activate them ..Save with F10 and restart ..
Another thing to check is the Ram memory ..If you have more than one inserted...remove and leave it work with one at the time ..and see if it is booting right ..cause most blue screen problems are from .the ram memory issues ..
In the final ..try to format it again and see what comes out ...or ..borrow a hard disk ..(even already installed cause in general will boot even if it do not have the devices installed or recognized..) ..and try to boot it up ..and so you'll know that it is a hdd problem ..
after that ..with a recovery for Bads program ..and installed in a slave position on a computer ..try to isolate them ..or fix ..but ..if it is to have bads on it ..and not virtual but physical ones...tha on start should always show them ..and force you to press F1 to accept the boot with the hdd in this condition ...If it didnt ask for it ..it measn that there is something else..and the only issue remained is the ram memory ..

Base from the description of your problem the main possible reason for this is a hard drive that has several bad sectors already and the operating can already be corrupted that;s why windows XP wont load anymore.
What we can do here first is to try loading on Safe mode or Last known good configuration , to do power off the computer and then power it back on and once you press the power button continuously press F8 key and see if that will load advance boot menu if yes select first boot with Last known good configuration and check if that will load fine if not restart again the computer and press F8 again and select Safe mode the first one.
But if still same problem the hard drive is already bad but you ca try to format it and install a fresh copy of XP.
