PS3 Video Format conflicting with Tv format

I have a problem. I currently have a regular SDTV in my apartment, but went to my parents house and played on 1080i HD. SO i switched the format of the ps3 to 1080 and now I can't see the video on my SDTV due to the settings change. Is there anyone that can tell me directions to blindly change my video settings or is there another way to fix it? Thank you for you time.

My Ps3 didn't come with a hardware disk. I have a 60gb one not sure if that changes anything.

Put in your ps3 hardware disk that came with your system in the box and switch back the parameters that way your system came with a setup disk that auto matically runs in lower mode so you can reset your system parameters

How can I play Canon's HD .MOV files on the PS3?

Hi van derb
You would need to convert MOV file into a format which PS3 understands.
This can easily be done with a simple conversion tool such as the 3herosoft PS3 Video Converter.
1) Download and install 3herosoft PS3 Video Converter. Once installation has completed, launch the program. Step
2 ) Click "File" and then "Add" from the top menu of the 3herosoft PS3 Video Converter program. Browse to the folder and location of your MOV file. Select the file that you want to convert to PS3 format and click "Open." Once selecting the file, it will be added to the conversion list. Step
3) Edit the file as desired. Modify fields under "General" in the upper left-hand corner of the program window. Changes can be made to video size, duration, frame rate, buffer size and more. Step
4) Click "Convert" button (red circle) to convert the MOV file into PS3 format. Locate the converted file and transfer it to your PS3 for playback.
You can download this software from following link. http://download.cnet.com/3herosoft-PS3-Video-Converter/3000-2194_4-10909133.html

Wont play games or dvds

I take it that you have performed the initial set of up the PS3 system 1 If the DVD/Games do not match the region code set in the system it can not be played. 2 When out putting DVD content in SD resolution, only discs recorded in PAL standard can be played. Remove the parental control restriction by increasing the viewer's age. 3 Games with Playstation 3 format software can only be played. Please check this aspect.

I am having a problem with a new tv I cant get a picture using a HDMI cable my TV says invalid Format. what do I need to do?

The format of signal your pushing with you ps3 is to high adjust it down to stadard def and work you way back up most tv's are 720p and your ps3 will try 1080p as a defualt with your tv does not understand, also check the cable as well there are diffrent versions of hdmi such as 1.0,1.2. etc etc make sure you using a lowest bandwith cable that way there are no conflicts.

thanks I sure hope this was Very Helpful!

No color

Sounds like you are having a issue with color format or a bad connection cable... In the US we use the NTSC color format, Japan uses NTSC-J, and Europe uses PAL. This matters quite a bit; if you have some Special Edition PS3 that they only sell in Japan and have it plugged into your Flatscreen TV in the UK no dice. Make sure you do not have conflicting regions for your hardware. Moreover, make sure the pixel resolution is not out of bounds for your TV's range. The PS3 has different connection cables for every kind of connection; RCA, HD, HDMI. I recommend using HDMI if your TV supports it.

PS3 DVD'S playing

If there is no picture on the TV screen: Back to top
  • Check that the input mode of the TV is appropriate for the connector in use on the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.
  • There may be a problem with the cable in use. Try using another cable that is compatible with the PLAYSTATION®3.
  • If the video output settings on the PLAYSTATION®3 do not match those of the cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes blank, turn off the system.
  • Then, with only the PLAYSTATION®3 and the TV connected, touch the system's power button for more than 5 seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.
If the DVD or Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) cannot be played, or the picture is distorted: Back to top
  • When outputting DVD content or PLAYSTATION®3 system format software in SD resolution, only discs recorded in the NTSC standard can be played.
  • If the PLAYSTATION®3 is connected to a VCR or a combination TV/VCR unit, copy protection encoding on some DVDs and BDs may cause image distortion, or may cause the image to become lighter or darker. In such cases, connect the system to the TV directly.
  • If the DVD or BD does not match the region code set in the PLAYSTATION®3, it cannot be played.
  • Some DVDs are preset with parental control restrictions. Enter the password that was set in "Security Settings" to temporarily increase the viewer age restriction level.
  • Some BDs are preset with parental control restrictions. Enter the password that was set in "Security Settings" to change the parental control level.
  • The BD may be disc-locked. Enter the password that was set when the disc was created.
