Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Kid Pix 4 doesn't allow more than one user to have access to the program on a shared tower. We are using NComputing technology and here is what they have to ask your company. Thank you for contacting NComputing Technical Support. Since you have already tried Sandboxie and looking at Kidpix configeration for previous versions, the best support route for this issue would likely be to contact the makers of KidPix directly. While they may or may not be familiar with NComputing, they would likely be familiar with the Terminal Services environment, or other thin client configurations. I'd recommend you begin by asking them whether their software supports a multi-user or Terminal Services environment to begin with. Its possible that they have separate software or specific patches to their software for that kind of configuration.

Autocad 2014 can it run with ncomputing x550

I have no experience with ncomputing units, but I have done extensive work in graphics programs such are Coreldraw and Photoshop. The one thing they all have in common is they require large amounts of memory and fast processors, otherwise rendering can be a nail-biting experience. I suggest reviewing the users' reviews at Amazon, and any other computer technology website.

Cisco access point

Hi,
How to configure wireless access point using a laptop
Wireless technology makes connecting to the Internet possible from anywhere within the range of the network. Unfortunately, not all Internet-capable devices have wireless technology, and many still require an Ethernet port connection. If you have a laptop with a wireless card and an Internet connection, you can make the laptop a wireless access point and share that connection with other devices, whether your laptop runs a Windows or OSX operating system. Windows computers allow other devices to access the wireless network via a physical connection to the laptop, while OSX computers allow AirPort equipped devices to connect as well, creating a second wireless bubble for the network.

Instruction:
WINDOWS
1 Turn on the laptop and the device with which you will share the connection. Ensure the laptop's wireless card is turned on and you have an Internet connection.

2 Connect an Ethernet cord to the port on the laptop, and the other end to the receiving device. You need to make the connection first, or you will not be able to access the sharing options for the connection.

3 Open the list of network connections on the computer. In Windows 7 and Vista, access this list by typing "Network Connections" into the Start menu search bar and pressing "Enter." In Windows XP, click on "Network Connections" in the Network and Sharing Center section of the Control Panel.

4 Right click on the wireless connection and select "Properties," then navigate to the Sharing tab. This tab will not appear unless both devices are connected.

5 Check the box marked "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection." Click "OK" to save the changes.
OSX
1 Click on the Apple menu and select "System Preferences." Click the "Sharing" option, then choose "Internet Sharing."

2 Select the Airport and wireless network in the "Share your connection from:" drop-down menu.

3
Select an output format for the connection in the "To computers using:" drop-down menu. Choose "Ethernet" for a physical connection or "AirPort" for wireless broadcasting.

4
Turn on the device you wish to receive the connection. Connect the devices with an Ethernet cable, or turn on the receiving device's AirPort card and connect wirelessly.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAN(WORKGROUP) AND NCOMPUTING. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES.

Not sure what you mean by LAN workgroup. If you're referring to traditional Local Area Networked PCs and sharing files on a server, the NComputing solution is very different. Imagine taking a standard LAN with 20 PCs, each costing at least $500 (usually much more), and having them access a network. That cost would run you $500 * 20 or $10,000. That's just for the hardware, not any of the soft dollar costs. Additionally each PC uses a minimum of 100 Watts of Power, more common these days is 250 Watts.
Now take the NComputing solution. Start by replacing ALL 20 PCs with a $150 L230 or a $200 L300 device, which only consumes 5 Watts of power. Purchase one server, say $2,000. Load up NComputing's vSpace on the server and connect all of the L devices through the network. Every user still gets their own desktop, access to the network and other peripherals. And the I.T. department now has ONE Desktop OS touch points, not 20 as they did before. Thus the NComputing solution can reduce support costs, consume less CapEx and OpEx budget while delivering desktop sessions to each user. In this example the cost would be $2,000 + (20 * $150) = $5,000.

First l230 connect to vspace ok,then i installed safe360 , then l230 report "terminal server - yet not ready. please, retry ..."

What is Safe360, an AntiVirus or Firewall software? If so, the program may have inadvertently blocked port access to the kernel which vSpace needs access to for user sessions. Below are the port exceptions for firewall configurations and file exceptions for Antivirus configurations. Current as of this post.
  • Port Exceptions
    • For L-series device connection
      • TCP: 27605, 27615, 3581, 3597, 3645, 3646

Web filter not working

Please elaborate by what you mean. Is the software preventing the devices from accessing the host? Are the users unable to log on? Is the filter working but not logging data per user? Understand that even though you might have multiple devices connected to a host, they are all sharing a single IP at the application layer so many web filters track by user ID/IP Address. Thus you might have to use NComputing's virtual IP address utility. Contact them to get a copy of that at 888-365-121. It's free of charge.

Hi, I have two pc running with windows xp operating system. From User 1 i need to access user 2 windows folder and program files folder otherway around also but I can't how? Even if I shared windows folder...

First thing Windows XP Home Edition will give you numerous problems when sharing files, you should consider using windows XP Pro for that sort of operations.

Assuming you have Windows XP Pro installed in both computers:

1 - Create the same user on both computers ( same account name, same password ) blank passwords are not allow between file sharing as per windows xp group policy.

2 - Create a resource to share ( example: C:\)

3 - Disable simple file sharing

* go to control panel
* click on folder options
* click the VIEW tab
* unckeck the use sharing wizard

4 - Make sure that the user that will be used for authenticating between computers have the proper NTFS permissions and the proper access to the shared sources.

5 - Try to connect to the shared sources when asked for username and password type the credentials of the newly created user.

Now you should be able to connect to the shared sources both ways.

Animations and stickers do not work in KidPix

I had the same problem and I found out it's to do with Quicktime. You'll need to uninstall your Quicktime (if you're sure this won't affect other programs you have on your computer). The stickers and animations won't work if you have the recent version of Quicktime installed on your computer. Uninstall Kid Pix, uninstall Quicktime then re-install Kid Pix. Kid Pix deluxe 4 comes with its own, older version of Quicktime. This is what solved the problem for me.

Kidpix4 doesn't work in Windows 7, even in compatibility mode. Is there a fix?

If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you could download and install the XP mode from Microsoft. This creates a virtual XP computer inside of your computer. Then you can install the program on the virtual computer and use it there.

The web site doesn not indicate any updates for Win Vista or Win7.

I hope this helps.

As soon as i went from a 'B' to a 'G' router, my internet has slowed dow , worse than dial-up

The Belkin Wireless G Router lets users share files and a broadband Internet connection among their computers-without using networking cables. It features 802.11g technology that makes accessing files and networked peripherals-such as hard drives, printers, CD-ROMs, and DVDs-easier than ever. 802.11g technology provides you with networking speeds nearly five times faster than the current Wi-Fi (802.11b) standard. An integrated, 4-port 10/100Base-T Ethernet switch also allows you to connect wired computers to the network. 802.11g technology is the easiest wireless network to implement. The Router uses the wireless 802.11g 2.4GHz standard to offer you 400 feet of wireless coverage. 802.11g technology is backward compatible with the 802.11b Wi-Fi networking standard, so it allows you to implement faster wireless technologies in combination with existing 802.11b Wi-Fi networks.

so if use "g" type router the speed cannot be slow there may be some other problem....that let the internet speed down....check that......
