Question about Heating & Cooling
This sounds like a split system and not a window unit ? First check the outside unit known as the condenser and make sure it is running correctly by --- Check that fan is running on outdoor unit and listen to see if the compressor is running. If neither of these are running then it can be a loss of control voltage to the contactor, bad contactor or even bad capacitor. If nothing is running then turn off the power by using diconnect next to unit....then remove the side or corner panel that has access to the control compartment . Visually check that the contactor is pulled in so that the center section is pulled in to make a complete contact across the terminals for power to flow... look at capacitor and see if it is swollen on the top and if it is swollen then it must be replaced with exact matching numbers from an electrical parts or motor dealer. If everything still looks ok then you will need to contact a local company to troubleshoot the unit further.
