Question about Amana Portable Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Have an Amana 30KE portable a/c. Water is coming out of the rear louvers instead of the lower drain plug hole. Any ideas as how to fix this? Where can I get a repair manual if I need to remove the rear cover?

Mcdevito75 here, You"ll have to make sure the drain holes are not clogged, use a tin wire, coat hanger and clear out the drain holes.

There is a drain plug for the water on the rear lower back of your unit. You have to pull that plug out and it should drain the water out. The water is from condensation of the air you are conditioning. Probrably in the lower middle portion. Unscrew the cap and pull on the black plug. If it is plugged you need to take a small hanger and gingerly move it back and forth in the drain opening until the accumulated water drains.

Since there are no specific numbers for your equipment, I will respond generically. Part of the cooling process is removing moisture from the air. This sounds like it is a condensate drain. You may be missing a hose or a pan or both, that collect the moisture removed from the air. This is the only reason I know of for any A/C unit to be discharging air unless it is a water cooled unit.

Does model# msd2652keu have a drain pan or not. can't find one. serial# 50909406ll

Hi, There is a hole in the lower back of the freezer compartment that carries the water to the drip pan when the fridge goes through the defrost cycle. Water on the floor means that hole is plugged and the water seeps through the doors. See the owner's manual - it will describe this issue. The fix is to have the blockage removed by squirting a solution of hot water and baking sode with a turkey baster or a similar injector.

The solution needs to be injected into that plugged hole. When the water from the injector starts going down (into the drip pan at the back) instead of coming back up, the blockage is removed and the problem should be solved.forgot to clarify that the solution needs to be injected into that plugged hole. When the water from the injector starts going down (into the drip pan at the back) instead of coming back up, the blockage is removed and the problem should be solved.

Take care.

you need to remove the rear panel inside the freezer section, inside there will be the evaporator coil/core,below this is a drip pan/drain and they get frozen over, shut off the unit and put a bunch of towels there to catch water as it thaws, then use hot water to hasten thaw, then run a piece of wire down the drain hole, you will need to remove rear lower cover to see when wire comes out there, then after you get it starting to drain, clean out drain tube with hot water and vinegar

Bottom freezer is leaking water. Water seems to

You have a clogged defrost drain. The problem is fixed by unplugging unit from wall, open both doors, blow fan for 24 hours to SAFELY remove the ice covering the drain hole. If you use ANY other method, you may regret it. Once ice is melted, remove debris that is likely blocking the small drain hole, if no debris in drain pan, direct some high pressure air down the drain to block the debris INSIDE the tubing. Furthermore, its a good idea to make the drain hole in the drain pan larger, as sometimes a bubble of water can freeze in the drain hole, and ice could be the cause of your blockage from that bubble.

there are drain holes in the tray at the bottom of the unit that should allow the water to drain outside, see if these holes are plugged or if the unit is not mounted level.

most likely you have a plugged drain int he freezer compartment. if yo will look under and behind the lower basket in your freezer you will most likely see a bunch of ice build up. clear this ice out then you will see a drain hole in the center section behind the metal cover in the rear try to get some hot water into this hole to clear ice and to clear the drain then u shoul be good to go. thanks for using Fix Ya Peyton
