Question about KitchenAid KERC500 Electric Kitchen Range
Its not safe to use the unit with unplugged meat.It will not work properly and also other parts can get short.
But for troubleshooting,i will say try this procedure:---
F4 Meat probe shorted
1. Disconnect meat probe and measure probe resistance (78k? at 60° F [15.6° C],
37k? at 90° F [32.2° C]).
2. If resistance is not valid replace probe.
3. Insert probe and check for a firm connection between probe and jack (in oven cavity).
4. Check connection between jack and harness (in rear of oven).
It sounds like the probe jack may be bad or the wiring between the jack and the control board above. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com
