Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook
We specifically bought an HP for my sons gaming needs. That is what was recommended to us. But it wont play my sons games right. The guy told us this is what we needed for a gaming computer. it has a 64 bit video processor but the games require 128 bit. How do I rectify this?
is there anything I can do or am I stuck with an $750 computer that wont work?
It's likely that you may have been done over by the guy who sold you your laptop. Unfortunately, graphics cards are notoriously difficult to change in almost all laptops, so usually you want to make sure that you get the graphics card that you'll need when the system is assembled.
We had this same problem with my wife's laptop, but because we found the problem very quickly (hours after it was received) we were able to return the laptop to HP for a full refund, then order a new system with the card upgraded to the best that was available.
If it's possible for you to do this, I would strongly recommend it - because it is so hard to change this element of a laptop's hardware, building the system with a good graphics card also makes it more likely to be able to run games that will be released in the future, giving it more time before the advances of hardware and software will leave it outdated.
