Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

4 Answers

I have an EZ-Dub i got from WalMart six months ago. It stopped working last month. The drive spins, but it won't read DVDs of any kind. I think i got it to play a CD, but i can't now remember. Can I exchange this burner under warantee and receive an exchange unit? The only proof of sale would be the UPC Code on the box. I don't have my receipt anymore, but the Mfg date on the drive is April, 2007

Hi,

Regarding the warranty i suggest you to contact Lite-On they will help you with the warranty issue and get your player replced. To have a live chat with them please CLICK HERE
Or you can send them an email from HERE

Few troubleshooting steps you can try:

First try a hard reset by unpluging all the cords from the back for 30min and then plug it back in.IF this doesn't help then do the following:

Load a disc and listen.Does the player make squealing noises or is it totally quiet? Squealing noises may indicate that the player is trying to synchronize with the disc but can't due to an obstruction on the lens or in the laser path inside the pickup or a defect in the pickup. This can also be caused by an intermittent signal problem due to a faulty ribbon cable.

Totally silent means that the photo sensor is not getting any usable input from the laser at all, meaning that the pickup is "blind" for lack of a better word.
This can be caused by an obstruction of the beam by foreign matter on the lens or inside the pickup all the way to a marginal or failed laser diode and/or photosensor array. This can also be caused by a bad ribbon cable with one or more severed traces.

You could try to clean the optics. This is the most common malfunction as far as i know in all disc players. It would involve taking the cover off and finding a way to expose the lense, and then cleaning it with a very gentle brush. some players have a cover for the lense that swings to the side during playing, this greatly reduces the chance of dust accumulating, but its still worth the try.

If you actually see dust on the lense, then its just that simple. clean, close, play.

It may also be worth your while to check on the small shafting that guides the carriage of the laser pickup. Dirt, grome, dust and solidified lubricant can cause stoppage of the carriage and the laser eye then fails to read the next track.

If the problem does not get solved then you have to get it repaired.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate the solution

Greetings,
You might be able to return it to Walmart. I do not believe that LiteOn will take it back without a reciept.
Good Luck,

Hello

The shops keep copyes of sold items they should be able to confirm when you bought it with your name and the details of the product from the box.

Most likely dirty or broken lens.

Easyest thing for you, go get it replaced.

My DMR_E80H recorder does not read blank dvd-r disks

I don't have a solution but I am having the same problem (same model DMR-E80H). It will read finalized dvds but won't recognize or play blank or non-finalized dvds. About a year ago I had to replace the hard drive . . . I'm just assuming that the dvd recorder is just slowly breaking down and will need some kind of repair of certain components. (I think we bought it new in 2003/2004?)

Have panasonic dmr-ez485v error message -NO READ- changed disks used prerecorded movie same as my recorded disks, hit reset - still no change

I just saw the date on this message and realize that it was awhile ago. I assume that you have dealt with it by now... So for others who are trying to fix their DVD player:

I have a DMR-EZ485V DVD player and just started getting the error message "No Read." I couldn't find an answer on the internet and finally called Panasonic's customer service, (there is no charge 1.800.211.7262). Since it says "No Read" to everything--store-bought DVDs, burned DVDs, CDs; AND when there is nothing in there (it acts like it is trying to read when the tray is empty), the customer service rep thinks that I am having a lens issue. It either needs to be cleaned (can pick-up a product at Best Buy or Radio Shack) or, if that doesn't work, the lens needs to be replaced.

My dvd player just reopens every time i put in a dvd. It wont accept any dics, it used to work fine but has been switched off for about 6 months

A lot of dust builds up in electrical devices in six months. First try using a DVD lens cleaner. If it pops open and you can see the lens, use a tiny amount of alcohol and a cute tip to very gently remove the dust around the lens. My DVD player is an old piece of junk that can read 99% of DVDs because they might have a tiny scratch on them. When it can't read one, it spits it back out.

A piece of junk dvd player I just bought

Here's the support site with contact information. When you say it "quit working," how so? Does it spin up/power up? Are you having trouble playing DVDs? What model? It'll help to troubleshoot if you can give us more details.

Spinning dvd

Most of the time a read error is a bad Laser.Spin-up problem's are sometimes the cause but I think the Laser. Most of these China made units are not cost effective to repair

Cyberhome DVR 1200 acting up; won't format new blank dvds; says no disk, etc

Cyberhome has gone out of business in the US. My DVR 1200 stopped working but I was able to repair some capacitors on the power supply to get it going again. You can find more support information about the 1200 and 1600 on these websites: http://cms-system.cyberhome-dvd-help.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=14183 or www.nerd-out.com and search for Cyberhome.
