Is there anyways to override the parking brake line on a jensen vm8113

g brake line is just an earth, its a safety precaution so you dont watch and crash, if you want to have it play while you drive simply earth that wire somewhere else. connect it to the earth on your dvd player itself that will trick the system into thinking the park brake is up.hope this helps and please drive carefully :p

Hi
Make sure you are using clean/non scratched discs, Also your lasor needs cleaned, If you are any good with your hands take the top off your system, locate the lasor "eye" and rub it gently with a cotton bud dipped in methylated spirits then rub it gently with a dry cotton bud making sure not to leave any fibers from the bud on the "eye" put the top back on, This should do the trick, Hope this helps.

you arent supposed to be able to play dvds while in motin if the car is in foward motion but heres a little trick most of the dvd players wil not operate unless the park brake sensor has met and that sensor is at the end of your park brake put a coin on it with a magnet on the other side and this may fool the car into thinking the park brake is engaged although it isnt however your park brake light will stay illuminated

How do i bypass the parking brake switch in order for my video to play

There isn't any code that I know of. Most DVD head units have one extra wire in their wiring harnesses, compared to a standard CD head unit. On mine, it's a peach-colored wire, and is the activation wire for the DVD feature. During the installation, the instructions call for this wire to be tapped into the emergency brake indicator light wire. The reason is this:

The e-brake indicator light is what is called a "ground complete" circuit. That means that the bulb always has power applied, but when you pull the brake, that puts a ground to the wire and completes the circuit, allowing it to illuminate. The head unit sees this ground, and activates the DVD player.

In my Jensen unit, I simply ran this wire to a ground (I used a screw near the fuse box), and I put a switch on the wire, so I could break the ground contact at will. Jensen calls for a procedure to activate DVD playback. In their instructions, they tell you to select DVD from the option menu, and when the "lawyer screen" comes up (the one warning you to park before you watch a movie), you release the e-brake for 3-5 seconds, and then reapply it. To simulate that with the switch I used, I leave the switch closed (activated), and select DVD. Then I flip the switch "off" for 3-5 seconds, and flip it back "on". This tricks the head unit into thinking I put the e-brake off for a few seconds and then put it back on, and the movie will start. Then I can drive away.

Basically, ground the wire that is used for DVD activation, and put a switch inline on it. Then you can break and reapply the ground in whatever manner is required by the manufacturer of your head unit. If there is no off/on sequence with yours, as there is with mine, simply ground the wire to a screw inside the dashboard and you're done.

The heat is normal due to the large output IC's Panasonic uses. You need to get a "Laser Lens Cleaner" one that uses fluid. You can find them at just about any retail store these days for 15-20. Run it thru a couple times and hope that's the magic bullet to fix the issue, otherwise it needs service at a cost of 100-150 on average. If the cleaner does the trick, make it a habbit of cleaning your player every 3mos or 3000 mi. It truly is the best preventative maintanance on any CD/DVD/PC etc.! Hope this helps
