SOURCE: We have a "GE" Profile

Hi. If this is the delay start, and not an error code, then you will start the count down by pressing the delay start button. You will reset the count down by pressing delay start again.

There is also an error code D5, that means defective lid switch.

Try tripping the circuit breaker or disconnecting the power cord for five minutes. That should reset the delay program.

If that does not work, then there is a problem. Enter service mode and run a diagnostic program.

  1. To enter service mode:
  2. First press and Hold Wash/Rinse and Spin Speed buttons
  3. Then press the Power button
  4. Display will show t1
  5. Press the Cycles Button to Navigate from Test to Test (This also exits an existing Test)
  6. Press the Start Button to enter/enable a Test
Do tests T1-T8 in service mode.

See here from page 10

Model ESL 499. Why doesn't it start?

You have activated the delayed start function. Please read following instruction from user manual.

8. Delayed Start button

Allows the start of the programme to be delayed by a minimum of 1 hour, up to 9 hours. How to set the delayed start When the button is pressed, the number appears in the display (4). Press the button again to select the number of hours by which you wish to delay the programme start, up to a maximum of 9. E.g.: if you have selected number , the wash programme will start in 2 hours' time. To cancel the delayed start set, press the button until the number appears. Close the dishwasher door to start the countdown: a long audible signal (about one second) informs you that the function is active. If you open the door again you will see, in the display (4), how long there is to go (in hours) before the programme starts. A flashing dot in the digital display means that the delayed start function has been activated. Opening the door has no effect on a countdown which has already been started. If, during the countdown, you wish to see the programme number selected in the display, press the Programme Selector button (5). If, after having started the countdown by closing the dishwasher door, you wish to cancel the delayed start, press button (9) (Cancel) for about 2 seconds until the short «instruction accepted «signal is heard».

I am gettting a message on my dishwasher that says 1h

I think that the delayed use is engaged.  Wait an hour, and it will probably start up on its own.

I have the same problem and actually found a workaround by mistake you may try as a temporary solution (if that works for you):

- press and hold the lock button for a couple of seconds
(the delay timer would increase by 1 hour)
- press and hold the lock button again
- repeat until it reaches 9hrs
- repeat one more time: the control panel should be functionnal again.

Let me know if that worked for you!
