Question about Sanyo Cameras

1 Answer

I have a Sanyo X1200 12.1 MP camera that keeps showing the message "system error" when I turn it on. The lens goes out and in twice, and then the camera shuts off. I took out the battery and memory card and put them back in, but this didn't fix the problem. Also, sometimes after I take a picture, the screen goes black. It's like the camera shuts off and I can't use it for a minute or two. After that, it'll turn itself on, and then off again, and after that, it's fine. I've only had this camera for about 9 months. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Sorry but the best solution here is to replace the camera.

SOURCE: Why do I get Error 99 in my Canon EOS 350 D?

1. Turn off the camera.
2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card.
3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes.
4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.
Does the “ERR 99′ message appear? If it does, then the camera should be
serviced. If it does not, then please proceed to the next set of steps:
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Insert the CF card.
3. Turn on the camera.
4. Format the CF card in the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.
Does the “ERR 99′ message appear? If so, then the CF card is the most
likely source of the issue. Try using a different card.
If the message does not appear, please complete the following steps:
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Clean the lens contacts by gently rubbing them with a pencil eraser
or soft cloth. Be careful that you do not let any debris fall into the
camera body.
3. Reattach your lens.
4. Turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.
If the “ERR 99′ message only appears when one particular lens is
attached, then that lens should be examined by a service technician.
If you see the “ERR 99′ with a different Canon lens attached, then the
camera should be serviced.

SOURCE: my 9 month old camera (Nikon s210 coolpix 8.0mp) that I

Hi!
It sounds like the lens focus is stuck. If you don't have experience in camera repairs, you should give it for a repair to your local Nikon service center or other camera service center.

SOURCE: SD1200 IS Memory Card Error

Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for.

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're inexpensive.

Finally, I'd suspect the card before the camera. Think about purchasing a better quality card, they're relatively inexpensive these days. Also, first thing you should do with the new card is format it in your camera. You'll only need to do this once. If a card is not formatted when first purchased, it will work fine at first, but will eventually corrupt.

Sanyo digital camera showing lens error 1114 or 112

Hi.

If your Sanyo digital camera is not starting and you get lens error 112 or lens error 1114 prompted on display, that means that the lens is getting stuck, and cannot extend or retract fully. The controller board detects the error on startup, and shuts down after displaying the error message.
This errors usually happen because of dirt, or because the lens mechanis mis damaged in consequence of a shock.

If lens does not retract, try helping the lens back, without putting too much strenght, while you turn off the camera at he same time.
If the lens does not extend, try tapping softly the back of the camera to help lens out, while you turn off the camera at he same time.
If the camera had been exposed to sand or dust, try blowing canned air on the lens.

If this does not work, the lens assembly must be taken apart completely and re-assembed, and for that you need a camera repair shop.

Also call the number listed on the owners manual to get support from the manufacturer.

I have the Sanyo x1250 and it dropped with the len extended. When I turn it on, the lens goes partcially in and out while making a clicking noise, and after a few seconds of this, it says system error on...

Lens errors (system errors on Sanyo's) are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

Lens stuck open on Lumix DSC-TZ5

This is a common problem when something goes wrong with the lens system.
This can be as a result of numerous problems.
Try to pull the lens as turning on and also gently twisting it in and out...just may make the lens go back on track.

No shutter release

It turns out that supporting the camera while taking a shot can impart a slight twist on the seated lens. This twist is just enough to cause the camera to think that there is no lens installed .. hence the error message. Solution (provided my Henry's Camera experts) was to reseat the lens by reversing the twist. It has since happenned twice and each time recovery was effective .... Keith

My sanyo camera is not working

Well maybe I can solve this..... My lens would not retract and showed two error messages. Tried a number of tricks that have been recommended on this site to no avail. Ultimately what worked for me was pushing quite hard on the barrel of the lens trying to force it back in ( yeah i know, sounds extreme but did'n't think it could make the situation any worse ). The lens remained in the locked out position not moving in spite of the fact that I pushed it fairly hard. When I turned it on the lens retracted and it appears to be fully recovered from whatever was ailing it. Hope this works for you.
