Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32FS120 32" TV

Open Question

My Sony Vega KV-32FS120 has been trouble free for over five years and now all of a sudden the AC power on function has become erratic. The red timer light flashes (9) times and nothing hapopens. Leave it alone for awhile or try again and it comes on. I changed the power source thinbking low line voltage could cause this and it seemed to help. Once on the picture and sound are perfect. Any ideas. Prior to this first problem in five years my Grandson was over and was using his Droid phone constantly.. Any chance of a virus bleeding through to the TV? Any ideas for a solution will be most appreciated. Thanks

My sony vega comes on and has a normal picture for a while then suddenly fades to black and turns off while the red light at the bottom blinks. Is is a bad bulb?

How many time do this red light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it. These blinks are called fault indication, called blinking codes. If you wish to get more details about these blinking codes, check this site. It has blinking codes details to many brand TVs including Sony. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up previous posts, either by brand search, or view it in Mosaic / Timeslide / Flipcard option.

Sony blink five times

AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. If you wish to get more details about blinking codes to Sony TVs, check this site. Blinking red light 5 times

This problem is due to moisture content in the flyback transformer surrounding area. Due to this moisture content screen control voltage is changed. Without getting a exact voltage the indicator will not stop. 5 times blinking is only for screen malfunction. Make one general service by cleaning the deflection area and adjusting screen control the problem is solved.
