Question about Lexmark C500n Laser Printer

1 Answer

My Lexmark 500n tells me that I need to replace the toner while I am printing a 10 page job for example. It prints 1 page and tells me I need to change the toner. I do and I try to reprint. It tells me that again. What am I to do?

I think you can continue printing by pressing the main button on the printer for each page, dont reprint, just keep hitting the button to "ok" the warning. The printer should allow you to continue, but youll have to get another toner cartridge for it soon.

Lexmark t520 suddenly prints poor quality, i.e. the previous page prints softly onto the next page and the right side of the page (2" from right) is streaked with toner. Please help. TIA, Mike

this sounds like you have a fuser problem look at the fuser and see if it has toner build up on the rollers ghost printing can be caused by the toner cartridge or the fuser. this would indicate that your fuser isnt maintaining enough heat for complete fusing. is you take the rear covers off and run your print job. look to the far left side of the fuser and you will see the heat lamp lit up. this light should cycle on every 1 1/2 pages or so. any longer than that and it wont keep up with the print job

Vertical dark/smudged line on right side of paper when printing

See its a very common issue.the right side of the drum has moisture on it.remove the toner and drum and apply a hot air blower on it for some time also clean the printer internally.reinsert the toner and drum.
check by printing few pages the smudging on the right should go within 10 to 12 pages.
if the smudging doesnot go away then its time to replace the drum to solve the issue.

This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

Lexmark C772n - 127.07 Service fuser error

I searched the Technical Manual and there is no explanation of the code. The user manual simply says there is a printer failure. They ask that you turn the printer off, wait 10 secs and then restart. Then call 1-800-LEXMARK and they will tell you about the code.

Given that your printer is saying Service Fuser, it is highly likely the fuser is ready for replacement. The fuser is the component that heats to high temperature to fuse the toner to the paper and complete the print cycle.

My HP printer 2420 leaves "ghost" prints on the pages.

This can be caused by one of two things.

1. faulty wiper blade on your toner so that the previous image in not being wiped off the drum.
2. worn fuser sleve.

To work out which it is you will need to do a half stop test: print off a normal document then when it is about half way through the printer ( unfortunatly you may have to repeat this to get the timing right) open the front cover. remove the toner cartridge. if you can see the ghosting on the page the it is the toner. if its not there then its a new fuser. to save on money and if your confident enouh you may be able to just chane the fuser sleve depending on the state of the fuser on a whole.

hope this helps

Prints a strip of black down middle of page

You need to open the small lid on each toner cartridge (to reveal the drum cylinder) and check if the line mark appears on any of them. If the case, you have some sort of contamination making a permanent mark on the affected cartridge. It can be a piece of paper, dirt, or loose part. If the toners are clean, your problem might be routed to the LSU (laser scanner unit) for which you need an Authorized Service Center to assist you.

This can cause print-quality problems during printing. Cleaning the printer eliminates or reduces these problems. Open the top cover. Figure 1: Top cover opened example 3. Remove the print cartridge. Figure 2: Print cartridge removed example CAUTION: To prevent damage to the print cartridge, do not expose it to light for more than a few minutes.Be careful not to touch the transfer roller (the black, rubber roller located underneath the print cartridge). Skin oils on the roller can cause print-quality problems. 4. With a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe any residue from the paper path area and the print cartridge cavity. Make sure not to touch the transfer roller with fingers, as the oil can contaminate the roller, resulting in print quality defects. Figure 3: Paper path area and print cartridge cavity example 5. Reinstall the print cartridge and close the top cover. Figure 4: Print cartridge reinstalled example NOTE: If the print cartridge is difficult to reinstall, make sure that the registration plate has been flipped back down into position and that the print cartridge is pushed firmly in place. 6. Accumulation of toner and particles can cause specks to appear on the front or back side of print jobs. The cleaning procedure takes about 2.5 minutes to complete. A message (either CREATING CLEANING PAGE or CLEANING) appears on the printer control panel display while the cleaning is taking place. NOTE: Use plain paper to print the cleaning page. Please note that this is a two-step process. First print out the cleaning page using the following directions, then follow the directions on the cleaning page itself to reinsert it back into the printer to perform the cleaning. Use the following steps to run the cleaning page: 1. If the printer model includes a duplexer, open the rear output bin. 2. Press example(Select button) to open the menus. 3. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to PRINT QUALITY, and then press example (Select button). 5. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to CREATE CLEANING PAGE, and then press example (Select button). 6. Perform the following to complete the cleaning process. 1. Remove all paper from Tray 1. 2. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to CONFIGURE DEVICE and then press example (Select button). 3. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to PRINT QUALITY and then press example (Select button). 4. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to PROCESS CLEANING PAGE and then press example (Select button). 5. Load the cleaning page created in step 5 above into Tray 1 with the print side down and the arrow towards the printer. 7. If the printer model includes a duplexer, close the rear output bin. Let me know if that helped. Good luck, Tim
