How to Set Up a Netgear WGR614 V5 Wireless Router
Netgear routers--like all wireless routers--give you the opportunity to access the Internet with your laptop or wireless-adapted computer from virtually anywhere in your house within range of the router's WiFi signal. Though slightly different in appearance from other router models by Netgear, the WGR614 V5 acts similar in its setup process as others such as the WGT624 or WNR1000 series routers.
Things You'll Need:
Netgear WGR615 V5 routerNetgear resource CDEthernet wireBlue network wireModemComputer
1 Prepare to install the Netgear router. Log off and shut down your computer system. Turn your Internet modem off and/or disconnect its power supply from the electrical outlet. Take out the contents of the Netgear router box and verify that all the essentials are present: the resource CD, the yellow wire and the router itself.
2 Connect the Internet modem to the Netgear WGR614 v5 router. Locate the yellow Ethernet wire running from one end of the Internet modem to the computer's Ethernet port. Unhook the computer-end of the Ethernet wire and insert this end into the port on the router labeled "Internet." After inserting, confirm that the wire runs from the modem to the router.
3 Connect the Netgear router to the computer. Grab the blue cable supplied with the router. Securely insert one end of the blue cable into one of the four "LAN" ports on the router (the "LAN" ports are labeled with numbers from 1 to 4). Insert the other end of the blue wire into your computer's Ethernet port.
4 Start your network devices. Turn on or connect your Internet modem to an electrical outlet. Wait for at least two minutes to allow the modem to fully boot. Plug the Netgear router into the wall or electrical outlet as well, and wait one to two minutes. Turn on your computer.
5 Look at the Netgear router to verify that all lights are on. The "power," "Internet" and "wireless" icon symbols on the front of the router should be solidly lit. One of the four "LAN" ports should also be lit with either a green or amber color.
6 Insert the resource CD that came with your Netgear router to launch the "welcome" screen. Select "Router Setup" from the menu to begin the "Smart Wizard" setup application. Read and follow the setup steps, including naming your SSID (secure set identifier) or "network name" and setting a level of wireless security. Finish the setup process, ending with the registration of your Netgear router.
7 Verify that your Netgear router has been set up correctly. Open an Internet browser from both the computer that is connected to the router and on a computer that has a wireless card or adapter. Surf to your favorite Internet sites to verify your connection is working. Open your "network connections" utility on your operating system and make sure it shows that you're connected to your own wireless network.

How can i create password in Wireless Router NetGear WGR614

to create a network security key or password for your router you need to access the 192.168.1.1 or www.routerlogin.net but be sure that you are connected hard wired to the router. after typing it, it would ask you for a username and password which is "admin" for username and "password" for password. it would take you now to the netgear page. on the left side of the screen you would see the wireless settings button. click on it. there you can start configuring the network name and password for your wireless. and just click apply settings.

Hi, Inorder to make your wireless network secure you could enable a password for your network which would be required for logging into the network. Please visit the below website to access the screenshots that would be helpful for you to setup a password for your wireless network. http://www.pcwintech.com/screenshots-netgear-wgr614-v7-netgear-firmware Once you are at the website click on each of the screenshots to follow setting up the router for first use.If the router is configured and you would only like to secure your wireless connection then click on the wireless settings where you would find the SSID(name of your wireless network) and below secure options you could select the the type of security after which you need to enter a pass-phrase the box below. You would be able to access the router page form your computer by opening an Internet explorer and type into the address barhttp://192.168.1.1 or

Ps3 wirelessly

Please be a little more descriptive, this technically isn't even a question but I will do my best to help you. Yes, it does require a password which is specific to your network. Unless you changed your router's password, each router has a different default user and password. for this router, the default user name is admin and password by default is password. I recommend changing these in your web browser first, so others can not access your network or router, hence stealing your internet connection. I hope this helps you out.

My netgear wgr614 is not working. I have no

To establish a wireless connection between the router and computer, the router’s wireless setting (SSID or Network Name, Channel, and Mode of communication) has to be configured. Please follow the steps below to configure the wireless settings on your NETGEAR router.
  1. Connect a computer to the LAN port of the router using an ethernet cable.
  2. Open up a browser and type in the following URL: http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 (depending on the model number of the router)
  3. Type the Username as admin, and Password as password. Then click OK.
    1. To change the Wireless settings, click Wireless Settings under Setup on the left menu bar.
  1. Under Wireless Network, (make a note of these settings, you need these values to configure your wireless clients)
2.
    • Change SSID from default NETGEAR to any desired name (for e.g. Home)
    • Select the Region as applicable - Incorrect selection may cause performance problems.
    • Select any one of the available Channel.
    • Apply the changes
Configuring Wireless Clients:
The steps explained below use the Windows XP wireless client. If your card came with
its own wireless configuration utility, you may use that as well.
  1. Open the Control Panel from the Start Menu.
  1. Right-click Wireless Network Connection and choose Properties.
  1. on the Wireless Networks tab and if unchecked, check the box for Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.
Then click OK.
  1. Right-click on Wireless Network Connection, Select View Available Wireless Networks
  1. This will lists all the available wireless networks in range. Select your network from the list and click Connect.
If you are connecting to a secured wireless network, you will be prompted for a Network key. Type the Network key (if you are using WEP security, make sure you are typing the network key, not the Passphrase) and click Connect
  1. Your network list should now display your connection status. If you are connected and your router is setup for internet access, you are ready to connect to the Internet wirelessly.

Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U And PS3

I understand that you want to connect the PS3 using the Wireless card and NETGEAR card. Please note that the setup you have will not work for internet access. You can not configure the Air card to work with NETGEAR router. you need to have wih a broadband connection available for this router to connect to internet.

Once you have the router configured with Internet access then you may either connect the PS3 wired or wireless to the router, like you connect a desktop or laptop to the router.
