Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My iPod won't turn off, but it will pause, and now it won't charge. It's frozen. I have had it for 3 years. My iPod is one of the small 4 MG (?) kinds. Should I just go buy a new one, or is there anything I can with this one?

Hi it sounds to me like the firmware on the player has messed up and will need re-installing now due to the age of the player it would not be worth getting sorted as you can pick them ones up now for next to nothing and it would only play up anyway, once they start playing up they can be a nightmare to get working properly.

i have got loads lying around of customers that need repairing but its just not worth it and we end up using them for spare parts, you would be better off going out and buying one of the newer ones as these have a lot less problems and seem to last ages,

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

I used to have the same problem with mine you can reboot the IPOD by flipping the hold switch back and forth then pushing the middle button down and the up(menu) button at the same time the screen will then go dark with the apple symbol then shut off and reboot

How to use my new Apple ipod

1. Use the application called Reminders for your grocery list, it's included in the latest generation ipod. 2. Double click on the home button (circle) and click the pause button (I know, it's unsettling the first time, but that stops itunes and leaves it on pause for next time you use it). You can reset your ipod by holding the top and home buttons for over 5 seconds until you see the apple sign, which will make your ipod forget where you paused.3. Most people don't turn their ipods off. They just let them sleep (the screen turns off but the ipod is still technically on). To turn off hold the top button for several seconds until you see the slider to turn it off. To turn it back on hold the top button until you see the apple sign.4. Depends...you'll figure out eventually where the battery life and your usage balance. It's always best for batteries to be nearly fully exhausted and then charged--preserving your battery longer.Hope that helps!

After charging your portable media player overnight, you turn it on only to find that it is reporting a low battery. Seconds later, it shuts off automatically. What might be wrong

Ifthe MP3 player battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.

Ipod just pauses

This can be caused by the audio jack, if it doesn't sit tight anymore, the headphone becomes disconnected for small periods of time causing the iPod to detect the headphone as unplugged, hence it will pause. If you're out of warranty you can send it to a third party iPod Repair Service.

If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, your iPod may be paused or on "hold." Slide the Hold switch and check the screen.

If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, connect your iPod to your computer, then press and hold the "Menu" and "Select" buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds to reset the iPod. Resetting an iPod will not affect your files or preferences.

If your iPod fails to hold a charge and it's more than a year old, you may need a new battery.

If all else fails, file a complaint with ebay stating you were sold something that was not properly described - unless the seller made it clear there were issues with the unit.

Hope this helps some!

Ipod problems

First and foremost, make sure you have the latest software INSTALLED.

If it's under a year old, I would suggest sending it in for repair.
