I tried what you wrote but it didn't work. I think the problem is the settings on my computer, it have been there I've changed before. I've tried Mixcraft website for solutions but can't find anything about Mixcraft 4 and Edirol UA-25EX.

There isnt any solution ..and you will have t make the settings all the time .cause I think that the recording settings mess up with the playback ones.....try though to open the control panel ..sound and audio devices..and make the settings there if you have any options least test the mic in both playback mode and recording ..
or ...make the recording by taking the signal from the amplifier..and make them into a recording software you will use the mic separately from the microphone you use directly in the computer for instant messaging programs ..
the idea is to mix teh sound outside the computer ...or at least the mic ..and insert the signal on aux in ..or ..via usb ..

Hi julle_165.

Based on the information you have provided, it seems that the issue is caused by the Skype Application.

However, you may resolve this issue by performing the below steps.

1) Open the Skype Application and click on the "Options".
2) Then, click on "General and Audio Settings".
3) Then, in each of the three fields make sure you specify exactly which Sound Device you want to use.
4) Then, make sure that you do not select the ""Windows Default Device" option.
5) Click on the down arrow and find the Device you want.
6) Then, click on the "Save" option.
7) This should retain the Device settings which you have selected.
8) But, if you insert a new Sound Device into the Windows Operating System, it sometimes changes the settings to the new Device every time you insert it.
9) Just keep checking there that it is set on the device you want.

Performing the above steps should resolve the issue.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to contact for further information and assistance.

    Hi julle_165.

As the issue persists even after performing the previous troubleshooting steps, you may try un-installing the Audio Driver and re-installing it.

Let me provide the steps to un-install the Audio Driver:

    1) Please press the "Windows+R" keys simultaneously.
    2) This should open the Run command window.
    3) In the Run command window, please type "devmgmt.msc" and press Enter.
    4) This will open the Device Manager window.
    5) In the Device Manager window, please click on the "Sound, Video and Game Controllers".
    6) Please right-click on the Audio Driver and select the "Un-install" option.
    7) Once you have un-installed the Audio Driver, click on the "Scan for Hardware changes" option.
    8) This option should be mentioned at the top of the window or in the "Actions" tab.
    9) Once you have selected this option, the Computer will scan for the best compatible Driver and install it.
    10) This will install the default Audio Driver provided in the Operating System by Microsoft.

Once you have done the above steps, please perform the same steps which I had provided you in the previous post.

    This should resolve the issue.

    Hope this helps.

Please feel free to contact for further information and assistance.

The first thing you should do is to uninstall the EDIROL UA-101 USB2 Driver Ver.1.0.3 for Windows XP and reinstall the system. If the problem persist try to use other usb cable, if the problem still the same please let me know inorder to make another procedure to follow to identify the problem.

Microsoft re-engineered the audio bus for Windows. HD Audio is hardware specific, in the sense that specific drivers have to be written to make a piece of hardware compatible with it. Roland is not writing a driver for the UA 25 because they want you to buy an UA 25EX. Get my drift? The UA 25 uses Kernel Streaming, the old way, which exists in parallel, sort of, with the HD Audio bus. But the new ways are always prioritized over the old ways in software, so there is bus contention (glitching).

To fix this there are a few things you can try:

1) Roll back to SP2. SP3 implements the HD Audio bus, so don't use that implementation. If your laptop has an HD audio sound card then I doubt it would work, but your UA 25 would.

2) Try ASIO 4 ALL. This fixed everything but glitching in VST instruments.

3) Reduce the amount of stuff your computer is doing. Optimize your OS by turning off the cute shaded windows and desktops and various processes that you don't need to see or use. There are sites for this. This increases available RAM, CPU time, etc.

4) Video hardware acceleration, sometimes, would fix bugs in software left in by not so clever programmers.

4) You can always just give-up and go along with the bastards and buy new stuff and toss the old stuff.
