Question about GE 24 in. Profile PDW8280JSS Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

I have a GE Profile dishwasher that has a water spinner (for lack of a better word) under the bottom rack, one under the top rack, and one on top of the top rack. The middle one (under the top rack) does not dispense water nor does it spin so the cups and glasses pointing downward never get clean. I see a water channel that is attached to the inside back of the dishwasher and has an outlet near midway up the back. When you slide the top rack back in place, it connects the water outlet to the spinner attached to the top rack. Are there different pumps that would control this water flow? I have removed the spinner from the top rack and ran water through it to verif that it is not clogged and it all seems OK. Thanks Chris

SOURCE: top rack not cleaning, possibly spinner not spinning?

Try twirling the spinner by hand to see if it is binding. If it looks ok then there could be something plugging the water passage to the spinner. If you have access to a water hose you could run water into that verticle passage pipe and see if there is an obstruction. If so it can be taken apart for cleaning.

You wil have to excuse my lack of knowledge. I am not getting an error code so I don't know what the problem is. The washer has 3 spinners. The top and bottom spinner are spraying water fine, the middle...

Take out the top rack and inspect the pipe nipple that the rack slides onto. Make sure that there isn't any debris stuck in it. Next pull the wash arm in question off (it just pulls off) check for debris (toothpicks are the biggest culprits and food particles (sometimes glass so be careful). You should find something in there. The wash pipe goes from the bottom to the top of the unit, if the bottom one works and the top one works then your clog HAS to be in the middle wash arm. The water clearly makes from point A to point C so C has to have an obstruction or the wash arm is sticking and not spinning freely. Try to spin it my have but really inspect it for debris. Good Luck.

My dishwasher wont clean the dishes. The bottom rack gets kinda clean and the dishes on the top rack come out dirty and covered in film.

Check whether the top rack spray arm main hose sits firmly into the
machine. If there is a leak in this area water pressure may not develop.
Also check the water pump in the machine!

I had a similar problem and fixed it by disassembling the lower spray arm and return filter, and cleaning all the junk out.
Most dishwashers have 'risers' that bring the water up to the top sprayer or arm located under the top rack. If the recirculating pump is plugged even a little there won't be enough volume or pressure to get the water up there.
Test this by putting a dry muffin pan in the top rack, flat, and running the dishwasher for a bit. If there is no water on the top (or the bottom) either the top sprayer or the sprayer arm underneath the top rack is not getting enough volume.
To fix this you need to clean out the screen and filter, where the water returns to be recirculated. If you don't have any confidence to remove the parts and clean it out yourself, get an appliance repair person to do the job.

Clean on bottom rack but dirty on top

Clean the filter at the bottom of the tub. If it is dirty or clogged the water pressure may not be strong enough to spin the top arm. Make sure also the there is nothing blocking the holes of the spinner arm. If the filter and arm are clear then the pump may be failing.
