Question about SanDisk Sansa e200 MP3 Player

Frozen screen i put some new songs on my player, i disconnected it from my computer, and started the 'refresh database' thing, and its frozen on that. i hold down the power button for 20 seconds, it turns off, every time i do that and turn it back on, its still frozen. i cant do anything to get it working again.

Frozen while on the refresh database screen


Try holding the power button for about 15-20 seconds. This usally shuts the whole thing down.

It may refresh the database as normal next time.

Sansa e200 shows refresh database fail


try putting it in MSC mode and formating it and then putting back on MTP mode. Hope that works

Stuck on refresh/black screen

Refresh Datadase frozen


I had this exact same problem! I had it frozen for 3 weeks then i did this I guantee it works! Really it does. _________________________ Disconnect the player from the computer if it is connected. Please copy and paste the following link into your web browser address bar, and then click Go or hit your Enter key. When prompted, choose the option to Save the file to your Desktop. http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe Once you have downloaded the file, please follow these instructions. 1) Double click on My Computer so that you can see it on your screen. 2) Turn the player off. 3) On the top of the player is a Hold switch, move it to the right (toward the headphone jack) so you see Orange. 4) On the left hand side of the player is a Record button, press and hold it while connecting the player to the computer. Continue holding the Record button until you see a new icon under My Computer called 16MB FORMAT. Once you see that icon you may release the Record button. 5) Double click the file you downloaded earlier and run it. Follow all of the on-screen instructions, and when you get to the prompt where it asks you whether you would like to Format it, choose Yes. Once it is done, click Finish. 6) Disconnect the player and look at the screen. Several things will be displayed, and when you see Key Lock, System Shutdown, move the Hold switch on the top back to the left. 7) Turn the player on and watch the screen. If you see a Refresh Database Fail error, you will need to follow steps 1-7 again until you do not get the error. If it does not work the first time, it could take up to 3 times for it to work.

Frozen on refreshing database


These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Sansa mp3 player freezes at refresh database


The Same thing happened to Me once. All you have to do is reformat it. You can do this by first putting the player in recovery mode. You can do this by putting the hold button on the side where you can see the orange and then plug the device into the computer while holding the power/Menu button. Then go to my computer to Verify that it came up as 16MB-Format. Then you can type into the address bar and type in http://mp3support.sandisk.com/firmware/rhapsody-1.0.2.165.zip. then once you do that right click on the file you downloaded and select open with compressed folder and drop and drag to the 16MB-Format drive. In the 16MB-Format drive folder select file menu and select New - Folder and rename it sansa.fmt then press enter to save. Finally move the hold switch back and disconnect the device and look at the screen and verify it is formatting and resetting once it's done and finishes the updates restart and if needed pick your language. check and see if you can use your player.

Frozen on Refresh Database


Take out the four screws on the back and pop out the battery then put it back on. Make sure you synced the songs properly. Add to the problem how you added your songs and I might be able to help.
