Question about LG 42LC2D 42 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Every minute or so (maybe less) my 42" TV has a short burst of static lasting a second or two, blocking sound with the static sound, and a small part of the TV screen - then all reverts to normal for the next 45 or so seconds - then the cycle repears. We are not using any sound systems - just the TV. Any idea what is going on?

The first thing I would try would be to eliminate the possibility of electrical interference. Make sure that no power wire is crossing the wires from the input source. Also verify if this happens on all input sources, by connecting it to a DVD player and see if the problem persists.

Sound is all static

remove the rear cover to access the main board. now look for the main board, and the amplifier ic. turn on the tv unit for a while and then turn it off again then unplugged. try to touch the amplifier ic, if too hot then it needs replacement which mean some pins get shorted.if you don't know on how it will be done just leave it to a trained tv technician.

Lg 42'' plasma 720p no picture

This is not good. Was your tv unplugged or just power button off when you left for vacation. PlasmaTvs are highly susceptible to damage from power surges caused by lighting. Leave unplugged for at least five minutes then plug back in and see if this helps.

Screen turns green after 20 minutes of use

static line at top is a problem with the broadcast input. many cable boxes and satellites create this because they dont quite fill the true resolution that the tv is capable of. the green splotches sound like overheating of the lcd lamps. id return it for a new one.

Static or popping sound

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems, to activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source.
