Question about HP Photosmart M407 Digital Camera

Flash the flash has stopped working

I purchased a M407 last year, and it has quit working properly (pretty much immediately). When I say quit working, I mean the flash NEVER works. It looks like it does, but then the picture is completely black. And sometimes the flash does not work at all. I have sent in twice for repair service (from where I purchased), and all they keep telling me is to use "new" batteries. I have put new batteries in so much, that I could've purchased a new camera by now. Now they're telling me it's because I need to use rechargeable batteries. I have switched to those, and it still does not work. When contacting HP, they don't seem to understand the problem, either.

Flash board is located on the top of the camera and it contains your shutter and video buttons. It also contains a 330 V capacitor that stays charged. If there is no charge, then the camera will say flash charging. If the camera persistently says flash charging, then the flash on your camera stopped working.

I found a flash board on ebay for 10 bucks plus shipping. To repair the flash involves in taking the camera apart. It is can be tedious but it is rather easy to do. If you are interested, I send you detail instructions.

Flash 380EX with EOS 40D and 18-55 Canon lens. At all zoom positions under 55mm the flash is too weak and the pictures are underexposed. At 55 mm flash works fine. Pushing "*" button does NOT...

You may need to adjust the flash exposure compensation about 1 stop or try 1 stop and if it's still not enough go a stop and a third. What's happening is the flash is being dispersed over a much wider field of view and the fall off is so much greater then at 50mm which the beam is narrower. The 380 EX works well from 35mm through 135mm. After that it still works if you are in close say 20 to 30 feet.

Flash will not work

Before you give up on the camera:

There are many setting that can affect whether the flash works or not.
You may have inadvertently set something that is stopping the flash from working.

Get out your User Manuals and use the index at the back of the book.
Look for something about "Resetting the camera".

This will reset the camera to factory specifications.
Then see if the flash works.

If that does not work ... recharge the battery and try again.

If that does not work, the flash is likely dead.

A flash card wears out every single time you use it. Yours has just reached its end of life - it's dead. Replace it.

Turn signal lights stop working. Neither the right or left turn signal work. Heard a noise before it stop working. The flashing started slowing down and stop blinking. Now it doesn't work at all. What

most likely its the turn signal relay. which is under the hood. in the fuse box. also make sure ur running lights are working if they are connected to the turn signal.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 flash will not work

Normally when the flash stops working it is because the capacitor the camera uses to store the flash power ( that is what charges..not the bulb) burns out. This is a very difficult repair and should only be completed by a camera technician.
If the repair is over 10 dollars I would suggest a new camera.
