If water is flowing, there is a water brake to stop the drain gasses coming up. If the overflow pipe is draining to the wrong side of the trap, that may do it.
I would check the installation.

As soon as the machine starts drawing water for the washing cycle it drains the water immediately. Any suggestions?

Yes, make sure the drain hose where it goes into the drain is higher than the console of the machine. Also make sure it only goes 6 to 8 inches down into the drain. I this is already the case, they make a siphon break that goes on the drain hose that will prevent this. you can find one at any appliance parts house.

Washing machine doesn't hold water because it drains out as soon as it goes in

if its draining as soon as it goes in
is it draining from the end of the drain hose
or is it pouring out from under the machine.
if its draining from the hose, the end of the hose must be a min. of 6 in above the back of the unit.
if it is not the hose, the you have a leak somewhere
try to gget in the cabinet, and see if you can see where it is going

A/C drain pan not draining.

The drain must have one and only one trap in it. A trap is where the pipe goes up then back down so that water is kept in a section of the pipe - will stop the air from blowing thru the drain and not letting the water drain - may not sound right but it is! I've seen this many times! Drain traps are not understood at all by the HVAC industry.

Water keeps draining LG WF-561SPP top loader

If the cycle does not stop draining that is usually because of a faulty membrane switch that controls the water level in your appliance.
The faulty sensor cause the machine to think that there is still water inside, even when water has drained completely.

make sure the drain hose is at least 20'' above the floor before it goes into a drain pipe. if you have it going directly into the floor it will siphon the water out as soon as it is pumped in
