Question about Magicard Rio ID 2 Card Printer

Hi Support, I've purchased a Magicard Rio printer upon receive I ran the test print and this intern printed the card successfully. But after install drivers etc and updating firmware driver it still prints on the cards but they have the following message 'unset' rather than details off the printer as previous. I'm running Windows7 and updated drivers via the USB option. Please could anymore help?

Hi There,

First of all, for Windows Vista, you need to be using the very latest driver (V6.02).
You can download this by following the link below;

http://www.magicardonline.net

Just enter your printer's serial number in the QuickSearch box.

Please Note: - With CardFive software, you need to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the printer list, then select the printer driver with the Windows logo next to it called 'Magicard Printer Series'.

If you still can't print from the CardFive software, can you print the Windows test page?

The Rio 2E is a single side printer to print on both sides of the card you need a Tango 2E Printer.

Hello Joseph,
Could you attach a photo showing the printer's internal test card?
To print the built-in test card, press and release the small test button on the rear of the printer. This may give some clues as to the cause of the problem.
Check that the printer has been thoroughly cleaned with the special cleaning cards (Magicard Part Number: M9005-761).
A video showing the cleaning sequence can be seen here;

You will need to enter your printer's serial number in the QuickSearch box. Then choose the Videos tab on the left.

Check the card thickness adjuster setting is correct.
Finally, ensure there is no dye film stuck to the print roller.

Hello Joseph,
Is it possible to print and scan your printer's built-in internal test card.
Then include a link to a good high resolution scan of the test card?
On the Rio, Rio 2, and Rio 2e, push the small button on the rear of the printer (with the lid closed, and dye film fitted). For the Rio Pro, on the front panel choose Menu -> Test Card - Yes (to confirm).
This will help identify the cause.
Exactly which model do you have? There were several Rio models. (the one in the picture is the original Rio). Later models were Rio 2, Rio 2e, and currently the Rio Pro.

Doesn't print correctly, the film doesn't go where it should


Hello Carlo,
When you say your printer doesn't print correctly, could you give some more details? What is the problem with the printing?

Also, could you may attach a photo / card scan which shows the problem? The internal test card would be best (press the small test button on the rear of the printer.

Really poor quality of the printed picture.


Have you cleaned the printer using a Magicard cleaning kit? Your printer neds to be cleaned using a cleaning kit every time you cahnge dye film to maintain a top quality print.
Cleaning kit contains 10 cards, 1 pen and 5 rollers - P/N M9005-761. You can buy it from your Magicard approved dealer or contact Magicard directly who will direct you to a dealer - info@magicard.com

Magicard Rio ID 2 Card Photo doesn't fit in the pre printed space on the card


Hi There,

Could you scan one of your cards and insert the image in your reply?
Just a dummy card will do. It helps to be able to see the problem.
Which application are you printing the badges from?
The image position is only for very small 'fine tuning' adjustments to the card start and end positions.

The cards are sticking


Hi There,

Im_useless:
0.126 is not a Magicard error number. On a Rio 2 printer, the error number will be displayed on the LCD display. It should look like 02:?? or 04:??, etc.

Are the cards feeding out of the hopper?
How far into the printer have they gone before you get the error?
Are any of the dye film panels printed before the card gets stuck?
Are the cards ejected when you click on 'OK'?

Guest:
The most common reason for the dye film sticking to the cards are if they already have overcoat printed on them (you can not print over overcoat). Also, if you are printing very dense images, try selecting 'ColorSure' mode in the printing preferences, Try reducing the YMC printhead power in printing preferences.
