Installation of one touch mini 4

hello, if you are adding an extra hard drive for space make sure to change the teeny jumper to the proper pins next to the connection slots on the hard drive. the jumper makes your hard drive work as a slave (extra drive) or a master (main drive). if you have a main drive allready on your comp and you dont switch the jumper the slave position the computer will not recognize it becuase of the new hard drives jumper being in the master position or pin connector.
if your installing it as a 2nd master drive you need to use your extra hard drive slot on the mother board for this to work as a secound master then you need the jumper in the master pin slot. there is a small diagram on to the hard drive info label it looks like pins and it shows you where to locate or place the jumper for either master or slave.
for a slave drive once you have placed the jumper properly then you can instal it on the same cable with the main. look at the cable it will have a main and a slave small label printon the connector or if you prefer you can use the 2nd hard drive cable on the secound slot on the mother board turn on your comp if you are going for a extra hard drive the comp should recognize it if the jumper is properly placed. when your comp is running you can check by going into (computer) and it should be there as a new drive letter

after this you may need to format the drive for use. you right click on the hard drive letter and choose format drive

hope this helps good luck with your upgrade.

You need to sliptream SATA drivers into your setup disk.
Download from here
http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/
driverpacks mass storage
copy windows CD to hard drive then use "Nlite" to insert them into the drivers section
then burn to a new CD.
and reboot from it should have no problem then

Hanging while using internet

It is probably because your internet connection is slow or you lack bandwidth. You have a fast computer and if you've wiped the hard drive and reinstalled windows then its unlikely that it is a windows problem. Also if you're using a modem instead of a dedicated connection they do tend to be rather slow managing only up to 56k per second.

Hard disk drive not found

It seems to me that the Hard drive or main board is damaged. To try this suggestion connect your hard drive to another computer and hope it DOES NOT WORK reason you are hoping this is cause if it does work you will need a new main board. I'm really sorry I cant do any more than that cause i know parts dont come for free. I have debated your issue for quite some time and i must say that is what is boils down to Unfortunately. When you try this and figure out which of the 2 is bad let me know and i will see how best i can assist. One thing that you may try if its the board is flashing the bios. Search the net for the instructions of clearing the cmos for your particular system. I Do Pray that clearing the cmos will work.

Do you have an IDE hard drive fitted as well.
If so remove it as I have found out that unless setup properly IDE and SATA do not mix

Maxtor One Touch 4 (250 GB) no longer shows up on "My Computer". Drive was operable for about a year, now this. I use this as my main BU, so imperative it works again. No strange sounds or other...

Hi,
replace the ribbon cable and be careful when you re-seat it on the board and on the hard drive. While you do this check the hard drive connection prongs to see if they have been bent or damaged.Take note of the red line on the ribbon cable so you reseat it properly.
or
Clear the bios and/or reset all to optimum defualts in the bios set up. Then connect the HD again, and it shoudl be fine.
or
Call in a favour and ask a friend to hook this hard drive up to THEIR computer as a slave. (Preferably and XP operating system) if XP will pick it up on another pc, then its most likely your motherboardor or windows is the culpret, but if you cannot solve it you will~ be able to save your data.

I clone my back up drive. After swapping it a few too many times I have found that windowz does not like it.Manualy setting the hard drive LETTER as I stated previously, solved the problem.

I am confident that one of these suggestions will solve your problem.

Thank you and good luck.

CD ROM DETECTION PROBLEM

LEAVE YOU hard drive on primary master port on your main board set as master or single drive ( IF YOU HAVE A STATA HARD DRIVE THEN DONT WORRY ABOUT THAT PART)

SET YOUR FIRST DRIVE AS MASTER
SET THE SECOND AS SECONDARY
use the jumber in the back of the drive to set them the propper setting is labeled on the drive it self

Connect them to the secondary port on your motherboard
so you should have

HARD DRIVE - MASTER OR SINGLE *jumper settiing* connected to the primary port on your main board

DRIVE 1 = MASTER *jumper settiing*
DRIVE 2 = SLAVE *jumpersetting*
connected to the secondary port on your mother board

IF YOU HAVE A SATA HARD DRIVE FORGET THE PARTS ABOUT HARD DRIVES ABOVE
i assumed you had a IDE hard drive

JUST USE THE SETTINGS FOR THE DRIVES and it should work :)
