Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
You get an Ethernet cable and plug it into your computer and plug the other end to the router. It does not matter what operating system you use.
With Windows 2000 there is a trick to make it recognize the router. Go to start - run - type - ipconfig - then you should get a command prompt. If you do not get a command prompt you will have to open up a Dos screen and type it in. After you get to ipconfig you will have to put in ipconfig / release. This will release the IP. Then you put in the next line - ipconfig / renew. That should do what you need to get onto the network. If this does not work. Try resetting your router by unplugging it and plugging it back in after about a minute then doing the steps over again. If this does not work you might have a bad router, network card, or cable. Let me know if this does not work and I will try to help you more.
If this does help, please rate this a fixed question so I will get the rating. Thanks. The ratings help me to help you.
