I also have the same problem. I have a Hobbylock 4870. It was working great. After rethreading it multiple times, I still cannot get it to form stitches.

    Thanks!!

The needle must be inserted so that the long groove faces you and must be inserted all the way up. If it is in correctly, the left needle will appear to be shorter than the right needle.
Rethread the machine and make sure to thread the needles last.
If this doesn't solve your problem, look at your needle plate and see if a finger is broken, bent or missing.

My needle broke on my serger and i replaced it and now wont make stitch. please help

some times when you break a needle in a sewing machine or
serger it can cause the machine to jump time, it would be a good
idea to have the machine checked for a timing problem or to see
if when the needle broke it caused a problem with another part in
the serger.

I have a pfaff hobbylock 796.

Has any little kids been around lately? Have they had access to your sewing area and machine? (thinking perhaps the pressure foot tension has been tightened down) If it has been tightened, losen it a couple turns, see if that helps (remember, left to loosen, right to tighten)

When is the last time you oiled this machine? Typically sergers require a clean and oil each time you go to use them. Locate the bar that correlates to the presser foot add a drop of oil to the bar and let it seep in. After a few minutes try lifting the presser foot.

Also does the presser foot lever move at all?

I broke a needle while sweng, now my needle hits my bobbin case on my 2030

it's very possible that when you broke the needle it caused the machine to go out of time & would have to be retimed at a sewing machine repair shop

Lost the foot pedal and cord to my Hobbylock serger 796 made for Pfaff. where can I purchase another one?\r\n Thanks, Charlotte

Here's a link to the Google froogle search results, they are a little pricey though... You might find a cheaper one in your area by calling around and asking for a used one.

Serger 794 from pfaff--calanda type 794

There are two holes running vertically inside the needle arm.........the needles are held firm by very small screws or hex allen keys.........they may have worked loose over time, if they have fallen out and been lost, it is a call to your  local Pfaff dealer for advice......be sure to quote model number.
Your User manual may have a diagram to assist.

Have you ever changed the needles since buying this machine ??
Needles ought to be changed every 6 - 8 hrs of sewing, and more often with heavy or abrasive fabric.
