Toshiba satellite a100,wa-1 memory upgrade

Hello. I have juste took off my 2 512mg memory and put 2 1gb memory in my laptop.
System shows that i only have 896mb insteand of something around 2gb.

And if i put 1gb and 1 512mb, system will see that i have 1496mb.

Do you know what i have to do to make my laptop see that there is 2 (1gb) memory bar in it.

Thank you.

i have a Satellite A105-S4284 for which i bought 2 1gb modules (exact kingston modules cited by Toshiba) to replace my two 512 mb memory modules. I cannot get any configuration to work. I get the Blue screen of Death as it was called in some website.....I once put the two old ones back in, and they were recognized as only 512mb total, but they at least got the screen to come up... . Now I put them back in, and they are not even recognized. Actually, I must have them backward. HELP

since my computer does not have memory at the moment, and this is my husbands computer, any chance you could email me ( to his address) with your answer? and post it here; I will try to find it. Email: boren39@hawaii.rr.com.

    thanks for any help

Hi,

Take out all the memory cards and wipe the gold part of the memory modules.

Then insert the two 512 modules & check the memory.

If it shows the correct readings, then the two modules are detected.

Then insert the 1 gb & other one 512 module.

If it shows the correct readings, then the two modules are detected.

Then use the other one gb with the same 512 & check if it shows the correct readings.

Then the two 2 gb modules are fine.

Now insert the two 1 gb modules & check now.

There are ECC type & non-ECC type memory modules are available, chck which one your computer supports & which type you have.

If it shows the correct readings, then the two modules are detected and fine.

Then you can also swap the slot and check if any memory module is not detectd correctly.

Some have four slots & i dont know how many slots your laptop have.

Good Luck.

How to replace RAM in Satellite M45-S165

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaM45/Satellite_M45_disassembly_1.htm

You can click on any photo to enlarge it.

Step 3 photo shows the Memory Compartment.

Two ram memory (SO-DIMM) can be used. There are two ram memory slots.

1GB however, IS the largest amount for EACH slot.

Is memory matched (DDR2 667)

Have you put original mem in slot 2

Download / install CPU-Z with both modules in and run program to see if it shows.

If all above is correct may be damaged mobo.

This is for your laptop from vendors site.

Memory5
• Configured with 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (1 slot occupied and 1 available)
• 512MB(min)/2048MB (max), 2 memory slots using 256MB, 512MB or 1024MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz SDRAM.

System can not see memory upgrade

Are you sure the memory modules are compatible with your laptop?
You can try booting and going into the Bios (F2 or Del), sometimes that helps in reconfiguring the new setup.

Can I upgrade memory to only one gb of memory or install 2 512 mb on a toshiba satellite m35x series

http://www.shopping.com/xPF-Toshiba-Toshiba-Satellite-Notebook-PC-M35X-S114

Looking at the specs, the max is 2gb for your Toshiba. According to this website, its only a 256mb ddr sdram. So my guess is you only have 1 slot for the ram. I'd go with a 2gb ram if you can afford it, 1gb just don't cut it in todays technology.

I believe its the PC2700 model, so find a 1gb or 2gb PC2700 @ 333mhz and you should be set.

It varies depending if the owner or previous owner or the store upgraded or downgraded it.

Woops - seem to have killed my laptop!

Right-click My Computer/Properties to see what memory is listed.
It's possible this memory is incompatible, but that would usually cause a no-boot situation.
Check the maker's specs to see what memory is suggested/approved.
I can't do this without the full model number.

Memory upgrade for Toshiba Satellite A100 - PSAA9A

this free cleaner called ccleaner is really good and gets your system cleaned up, free of any spyware and free updates.

But the memory problem is the fact that your notebook may only recognise 2 of the same size memory sticks, so take out the old memory and try the new in on it's own, if no boot at all then the memory is not compatable with your system.

You can go to the crucial web site and see what the tool finds as to the type of memory you can fit
